Taro T Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 When they win tonight, will it mean we need to get THREE game day threads going on Sunday? By late May it'll be hard to keep up; but by June it'll be downright silly. And wonderful all the same. Quote
quill Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 No matter who Ruff puts on the ice, unless the Sabres fix the power play immediately and start getting stellar goal tending, they won't win in Boston, maybe not even again in Buffalo because in the playoffs a non-existent PP + mediocre goal tending = recipe for disaster. Fingers crossed that The Lyon Roars Tonight Quote

It's Benny they'll use as the emergency^2 EBUG. And he'll get the goal from just the Sabres side of the red line while in full goalie gear (that doesn't quite fit him right) on a bouncer that makes Game 2's 2nd goal against look like a Rick Martin classic slapper. 2 Quote

Am hoping the refs put the whistles away because unless Östlund plays and he turns out to be the lucky charn there's not much they're going to do with the PP until somebody gets assigned different (or better yet, no) duties. nfreeman Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 JFC. If Norris got hurt in game 1 of the playoffs, to the point where he is completely ineffective in games 1 and 2 and scratched for game 3 -- they need to get rid of him this summer. There is NFW they can lose someone like Tuch or Byram because this guy is eating up an $8MM salary slot and misses half the season and all of the playoffs every year. Hopefully that isn't the case, but I have a cold feeling about this. 4 4 Quote
JoeSchmoe Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 I'd like them to put Greenway on the shelf for the rest of the playoffs. Other than mediocre penalty killing he gives us nothing. Seeing a player that big, yet that indifferent must be a huge boost to Boston's confidence. 3 1 2 Quote

Greenway played well both games, especially Game 2. Maybe worry more about some of our star players who have been giving Boston more of a huge boost in confidence than anything with their lack of production. 1 Quote

Thought he was better in game 1 than game 2, but yeah, Greenway was not the issue in either game. And REALLY liked his play in game 1. He had a mean streak to him in that one that we don't typically see from him. 1 1 Quote

Anyway... The point of the game is to win. There are no moral victories, pyrrhic victories, just victories. Nothing else matters. If after the game the series counter does not say 2-1 Sabres, then the Sabres failed. 3 Quote

Regardless, from what I've seen, he's been fine out there in more ways than one, but some people probably think that a huge player sucks if he doesn't fight all the time. I think that's why Power takes so much extra criticism, some of it unnecessary. Quote

I didn't care when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor either. Quote

It's true that our stars didn't show up, and that is our biggest problem. But I have faith they will figure it out. On the flip side peak Greenway cannot win hockey games... At best he can break even. I think we could do better with Krebs, Malenstyn, and Pearson (and Carrick once he comes back) on the 4th line. Quote

I have no idea what a pyrrhic victory is so I googled it to find out, and this is how the Urban Dictionary defined it (appology in advance!!): According to Urban Dictionary, a pyrrhic victory is a successful attempt to evacuate one's bowels, but one that requires far more clean up than the average. 2 Quote

French Collection Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 Norris has not been very effective in the first two games, probably due to injury. He was far from the Norris of the last 10 games of the regular season. Östlund is rusty but will bring some energy and a different vibe to that line. He could be the spark required for the PP to get one. 2 Quote

Cozens has turned out to be a real asset for the Sens and hasn't missed a game all season. Who knows, maybe the Sens coaches knew how to handle him better. Quote

Your dislike of Greenway is well documented. The Sabres would benefit much more if Dahlin came alive. Greenway has been good on the PK and in the 4th line role he is ok. He is actually pulling his weight more than Doan, Zucker and Norris. If just one of them can get on the scoresheet tonight that would help much more than whatever Greenway does or does not do. 2 Quote
dudacek Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 Really like to see Buffalo score first tonight. Boston’s style works better with a lead. Time for the McLeod line to step up. And for some magic from the captain. 3 1 Quote
