It’s weird that Carolina-Philadelphia starts tonight. I expect that to be a very short series so it could be two or three games deep before we even start the second round.

It is a bit strange that series hasn’t scheduled any other games yet. There will be two days off in between games there and the others will catch up quickly.

Isn’t G1 Avalanche/Wild scheduled for Sunday?

I wouldn't want him. The problem with a McDavid-class player is that they take over a team's personality and payroll.

I like neither McDavid's personality or cap hit.

what's up with his personality?

is McJesus a superdouche, or something???

The league seems pretty big on giving teams 2 days of rest after a series ends but don't necessarily give them more than that.

Am REALLY expecting game 1 of the Sabres - Habolts series to start on Wednesday night.

I will continue to disagree and be very surprised if it doesn’t start on Tuesday 😄  Hopefully we find out soon but assuming it won’t be after the game tomorrow before they release it.

Especially if it’s against Montreal I think they would want that Saturday night in Montreal.  Guessing Tuesday Thursday Saturday to start.

While fully understand that they SHOULD want a Habs game on Saturday, they haven't made it happen once yet.  Also, the league seems to be perfectly fine wtih adding extra time off between games to keep from having many games going at the same time and getting the most eyeballs on the entire product as possible, so if they DO want to have a Habs game on Saturday, wouldn't put it past them at all to have game 1 Wednesday and game 2 on Saturday.

Autocorrect butchered my post. I was saying that last time I checked, only game one was scheduled for the Carolina series.

Carolina is a very good team. Well coached and good in all phases. They will be a tough out.

They have been good for a long time, just not getting it done in the playoffs. They have been between 99-116 points every year since the Covid season (5 years).

Last 6 years, 4 second round losses and 2 Conference final losses.

I see Anderson as their biggest weakness. Their system protects him but extra pressure could cause him to break, mentally and physically. I don’t think Philly is the team to do that.

He's flat as a pancake, boring, and awkward. Which is exactly how the Oilers are. He had his own coach installed, so who knows what he's like behind the scenes.

He and Draisaitl don't seem to understand that when two players accept such large contracts, the number of flawed talent and JAGs on the roster increases.

His skating is also odd to watch. He looks like a wind up toy soldier zipping down the ice.

Would much rather be a home to a Hughes.

They move the puck at a quick pace and always up ice, no lateral nonsense. If we make it to face them in the Conference final I’ll be going to a game or 2 down here as my best friend has corporate suite access.

Nice! I'm in NC as well. Eastern.

He’s in Durham, he’s been trying to get me to come south for years. My wife relented, said she’d like eastern TN, he was ecstatic when I told him lol

I don't want to be "that guy" but isn't this a Round 2 game discussion in a Round 1 thread? I expect better from this board. Let's run a tighter ship and not be some Mickey Mouse outfit. I might not be able to participate in any Sabres' Round 2 thread as a result of this travesty. Good day to you all

Carolina and Vegas with fairly easy paths to conference finals it would seem.

I think you could say that Anaheim’s path is just as easy as Vegas. They finished 3 points apart, they both are weak.

They aren’t, but the Sabres are. I went to the last Sabres/Canes game in Raleigh with a couple of Canes fans. We lost that one 2-1 but they were saying they had not seen another team control the puck in their zone the way the Sabres did.

Canes fans don’t want us.

Say what you want about him, but he is also without a doubt the best hockey player in the world and IMO the most exciting forward to watch since the days of Gretzky. No one can do the things McDavid does at the speeds he does them at. He and Draisaitl are not the problem with Edmonton. Goaltending is the problem, and it has been for quite a while.

Front office is the problem imo.

I don’t have a real rooting interest in the game tonight BUT I do have a downtown Montreal hotel booked (with free cancellation) from next Sunday to Wednesday.

A kind of cool quirk happens if it IS the Habs that win tonight.  All 4 top seeds will have won their series and all 4 3 seeds will have won.  It's very often that there's 4 upsets in the 1st round, but don't recall it ever working out where the top teams all won and all of the runners up lost.  At least not in the 16 teams making the playoffs era which goes all the way back to the WHA merger.

For that reason, and for the chance to "Win the Adams, win the Cup" will be hoping the Habs win this one.  Expect they'll be a tougher out for the Sabres than the Bolts, but not significantly and do expect it to be great hockey all series long.
