Flashsabre Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 Final game of the regular season. Nothing to play for. Who is Lindy resting? I say: Dahlin, Tage, Tuch, UPL, Muel, Zucker Ellis gets a well deserved start. 1 Quote
SabresBaltimore Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 Krebs is 1 point away from 40. Dahlin is 1 goal away from 20. Tage hit 40 goals last game and has 81 points, so assuming he plays needs 1 pt tonight to stay at 1pt per game. No other scoring milestones jump out at me. Tage, McCleod, Krebs, Byram, Quinn, and Doan all have 81 games played. Does playing all 82 matter to them? Tage has been nursing something, I'd rather he sit, but if he plays limited minutes that's ok too. Kinda like Josh taking the first snap in week 18 for his "starting" streak. Does any of that matter compared to being ready as possible for the playoffs though? 1 2 Quote

French Collection Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 I would dress Kesselring, Schenn and Pearson so sit Tage, Byram and Stanley. Quote
quill Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 The only ones playing tonight will be any players who Lindy considers expendable or anyone he secretly hates. All 3 of our goalies will be sitting out. Sabretooth will be in the net tonight after making a brilliant stop on a 5 year old forward from Team Tuch in a toddlers game that took place between the first and second periods of a recent game. Cami Clune will be scratched in favor of Seth Appert who reportedly can sing both anthems in 43 seconds flat and can sing them in English and French at the same time. The $14 price of Cheeto pretzels will be scratched and replaced by free Cheeto pretzels for anyone who still shows up for a game where the only real attraction will be the chance to get a free Tage Thompson bobblehead. To add a much needed level of excitement, one of the regular Zamboni drivers will be replaced by D.J. Granville. Fans seated in the first 5 rows will be advised to vacate that area between periods. 3 1 Quote

Ogelthorpe Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 Can they bring up the new kids, strabak and mccarthy? Quote
Mr. MVP Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 Did I see it’s Tage Thompson bobble head night? Does that play into Thompson playing or not? Quote
Nacho Libre Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 Dahlin set a new career high in points, dunno if this was mentioned 1 Quote
French Collection Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 I forgot about Dunne, maybe bring him in and let Norris avoid contact. Quote
msw2112 Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 (edited) While stats are fun and nice to have, I really don't care about the Sabre players hitting milestones tonight. If players are banged up and need rest, that's not a good reason to play. Dallas has 110 points and 38 Regulation Wins, while the Sabres have 108 points and 42 Regulation Wins. A Regulation Win tonight would put the Sabres ahead of Dallas in the league-wide standings. I just checked and Dallas is 2-1-1 against Colorado this year (3 of the games went to OT/SO). Dallas has as good a chance as any team to win the Western Conference and make it to the Final. The Sabres have the best record in the NHL over the last 4 months, so we have to believe that the Sabres have as good a chance as any team to win the Eastern Conference and make it to the Final. So there's a chance that these two teams could meet in the Final. Is it worth it to try to win tonight's game to secure home ice advantage in the Final in the event that these two teams make it? This point was raised in a thread yesterday and I think it has some merit. I believe the Sabres can win with Ellis in net. I'd rest any players who have nagging injuries. I might be inclined to play top players if they are fully healthy. There is also some benefit to staying sharp and not having too long of a layoff before Game 1. While I'll be happier than a pig in shi* if the Sabres make it to the Final under any scenario, how would everyone feel if they got there, ended up playing Dallas, and didn't have home ice advantage because they lost the game on April 15? I'm curious how both the Sabres and Dallas are going to approach the game. Edited April 15 by msw2112 1 1 Quote
TageMVP Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 I'd scratch everybody and bring up all the Rochester Metsas Quote
Porous Five Hole Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 (edited) Don’t know anything about the source but I did come across this… Tage, Dahlin, Sammy, Zucker, McCleod may all sit. Edited April 15 by Porous Five Hole Quote
TageMVP Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 Oh I forgot to mention, I hope Power gets scratched then traded Quote
msw2112 Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 (edited) Home ice against Dallas in the Final notwithstanding, it looks like the Sabres are not taking any chances and are resting a lot of key players, with Ellis to get the start in net: https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/sports/sabres/sabres-will-be-sitting-some-regulars-on-wednesday I'd be OK if the Sabres decided to try to lock up home ice for a potential Final matchup with Dallas by playing their top players, but I'm also OK with this approach to gain rest and avoid injuries. I'm interested to see what Dallas will do. The best of both worlds will be if the guys who are playing take advantage of the opportunity for more minutes (for the NHL guys) or some NHL exposure (for the AHL guys) and pull out a regulation win. bigk33908 Posted April 15 Report Posted April 15 Those who played in the olympics have been playing a long season without the break. Sit, then TT and Dahlin. Quote
