LGR4GM Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 (edited) Guys, and gals. It is 9am and the playoffs start in less than a week. Get your ***** together with GDT. Anyways here are the projected lines from practice yesterday: side note, if Buffalo wins tonight, they guarantee home ice in round 1 Edited April 13 by LGR4GM 4 3 Quote
CallawaySabres Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 Philly probably gets in tonight with Carolina resting players. that means Montreal probably plays against rested Philly players tomorrow. Absolutely have to win the last 2 and take this division. 1 Quote

Absolutely have to win the last 2 and take this division. If we win tonight we only need Tampa to drop 1 of their final 4 points to clinch the division. If Montreal wins out they have a max of 108 points and we have the tiebreaker in Regulation wins. So winning tonight means Montreal's game tomorrow doesn't matter to us, only to them/Tampa. 4 Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 13 Author Report Posted April 13 Im more interested in home ice than winning the division. I think resting/protecting the top guys against a Dallas team that also won't care is smart. Playing Montreal or Ottawa is 6 to 1, half a dozen to the other. Both good teams. 3 1 Quote
SabresBaltimore Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 I should probably also note there are other ways we clinch (like getting a point in our final game, or if we win in regulation tonight and Tampa wins 1 of their games in OT/SO) but the simplest way to clinch is win the last 2. Dallas has clinched home ice in their opening round with Minnesota, so they have nothing to play for on Wednesday night. I'm hoping we won't either, but given the way this division race has gone I expect it to come down to Wed night. 1 1 Quote

Two points by the Sabres locks the Sabres into being at least the 2 seed. 3 points (in any combination of points gained by the Sabres or lost by the Bolts) keeps the Sabres ahead of them. And 2 Sabres wins combined with 2 Canes RLs give the Sabres the top seed in the Conference. 2 Quote

In some ways I may prefer Montreal to Ottawa, but I'd definitely prefer Boston to both. Also after such a long playoff drought it'd be extra satisfying to win the division, especially being this close to it. 1 Quote

B's have the inside track to the WC1 again. They could be either WC1 or WC2 just like the Canes could be division winner 1 or division winner 2. B's are very much a possible opponent. The only thing for certain now is the Sabres will be playing a team from the Atlantic in the 1st round and if it's the B's or Otters then the Sabres will be the higher seed. A lot of stuff will be clearer before the night is through. Quote

Taro T Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 Just now, CallawaySabres said: 2 points by Sabes does not win division though. Tampa has more regulation wins than us if they win their last 2. Correct. That is what "3 points (in any combination of points gained by the Sabres or lost by the Bolts) keeps the Sabres ahead of them" was referring to. The magic number to win the division is 3. 1 1 Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 This was supposed to be my daddy-daughter game as she lives in Chicago. But with actual playoff games on the horizon, I have to budget my travel. 1 1 Quote

FrenchConnection44 Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 Just win tonight. In regulation ideally. Then we can rest some guys Wednesday. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 Is home ice beyond the first round something to monitor, play for? Let’s Go, Buffalo! Quote

Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 There's a lot of chatter that the winner of the division will get the Jack Adams awards... While I think it's absolutely insane that John Cooper even has a shot with the all star team he gets to ice. I want zero chance he gets it. I want the next 3 points for Lindy, there is almost no one else in the league that should win that award. Going from 14 year playoff drought to 105+ point season. Also F John Cooper 1 1 1 2 Quote
steveoath Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 Philly have a big say in the final standings…. They play the canes tonight and the habs tomorrow. 1 Quote

Funny thing for Filly is, all they need is 1 point out of 4 and they're in. (EDIT: 2 to stay ahead of the Caps; 1 keeps them ahead of C-bus should they beat the Caps.) And they're currently in a playoff spot. But if they somehow lose both games in regulation then they have no chance of getting in. The Caps and BJs are both within 2 points of them (Caps 1, BJs 2) and both have the tiebreaker over Filly and they play each other, so somebody will necessarily get the 2 points to catch or pass Filly if the Phlyers lose both games. EDIT: 1 point MIGHT get them in. As I'd mentioned elsewhere last night, if they get 1 point out of the 4 but the Caps beat the BJs, then the Caps take the M3 based on the RW tiebreaker. 2 points is what they need to guarantee being in. BUT, though they're in right not, if they don't get at least 1 point out of their last 2 games they have no chance of getting in the playoffs. Edited April 13 by Taro T 1 1 Quote
