Haha, I made a few mistakes on eBay and bought a couple (luckily cheap ones) twice. I looked into getting some Helle-moose cards, but his Young Guns year will be this year - hopefully series 1! Early October release date - might get a hobby box or two. They will probably be stupidly overpriced with people looking for McKenna rookies ... sigh.

Just looked ... only one outburst red on eBay - $500 ... no thanks.

Honestly, I’m impressed. I started too late in the year, so I missed a lot. The ones I have that you don’t show were from the skybox metal series. I’ve got stacks the non-numbered cards that will just collect dust here.

I have kinda stopped buying boxes/packs because the heaps and heaps of extra cards (47 2023 UD Connor Shearys anyone?) stress me out. I have resorted to selling giant boxes of like 1000 filler cards for $5 plus shipping, lol.

Sidenote - the 2026-27 Upper Deck MVP cards are out ... Konsta is in there, but I generally hate how those cards look. The designs are mid-level middle school art class.

Drury was a break. Benson was eBay. One of the Ostlunds I’ll post in a couple days was from a pack, the others another break.

Right. I’ve been doing them on Whatnot. I don’t know the specifics, but the sellers have to actually mail something out or they don’t get paid. So they’ll send a random pack if you didn’t get anything.

I have been konsta-ntly searching eBay, but no good Konsta cards at reasonable prices. I guess I will have to wait until Oct when the regular UD series gets released and he as a YG card.

I collect most hockey and football, I've been collecting since 1986. My first chase card was the Jose Canseco 1986 donruss which got me hooked into card collecting with my dad. Card prices for boxes are pretty insane unfortunately so I've taken a break for a few years buying boxes and stick to buying single cards.

Right? Like ... $250 for 12 packs of 12 cards? Most of which you are lucky if you can give away? I don't think we are in another "junk" era - because rookies are worth something (It is crazy to me that you can pick up a Fedorov/Jagr/Selanne rookie for $1), but make no mistake about it, there are tons of barely worth the paper they are printed on cards out there. But, since the box might contain a Bedard/Celebrini/Schaefer rookie ... $250. Boo.

I’m not sure why anyone would bother with the MVP stuff out right now. Wait for the season and the decent stuff to come out.

If you are buying hockey to sell, just get the regular upperdeck, the young guns are the most desireable and unless you sell to Canada you may have a hard time selling them unless it's like you said a Celebrini, Schaefer etc. but if you're just collecting to collect then the sky's the limit. Once covid hit cards just went on another level of crazyness. It was cool at first because I could sell cards that I didn't collect personally no problem but then the breakers started buying up all the cases and that's why card prices are so high. I buy single cards off ebay, facebook, discord etc. but I stay away from opening boxes.

I am mostly doing it to collect. I got lucky a few times (just like gambling, right?) so it is hard to quit. Pulled a Bedard rookie, 2nd pack I opened ... got mostly junk for the rest of the box, but in theory it paid for the box. Got a Demidov YG and a Bedard dazzler black last year. Every time I open a pack of mostly trash, I think "OK! Next pack for sure!" I am a natural born sucker, lol. This is just on regular UD boxes ... I can't even imagine the special sets where you pay $4/card to get pretty much all JAGs in the hope you get some low serial number auto or jersey card - at least I stay away from those.

edit: I will say that the gold color works really well with a sabre player. I actually got mine out of a pack, so I don’t have to play that eBay game.
