That is exactly what that is... and I for one understand the wanting of a suspension... thats fine, I am not interested in whining about it... the NHL is traditionally this way... Bottom line is if you dont like it, take care of it... IMO we didnt have the firepower to "take care of it" that game because this guy was running around the rink all day attempting to injure people and throwing head punches when people were on the ground... I cannot see this happening against any other serious team.... this would have been addressed in a decisive way IMO... Jarmo I believe has tried to infuse some of that with his trades... but they were not there... So, from my perspective as wrong as it is... its the NHL and we are the Sabres... so basically, you dont like it, dont let it happen. Edited March 10 by JP51 Quote

I doubt Hagel gets suspended and it's another reason to try an avoid a war if you can because you never know who gets hurt or suspended. A little recap of the Florida Tampa playoff mess. You just don't know who is going to get away with what. How ironic that the punk coach of Tampa, Jon Cooper, screamed like a crybaby about the hit on Hagel during their game with FL, and then in our game the other night he tells his players to not only fight our star players but make sure to do your best to injure them by ganging up on them, sucker punching them, rabbit punching them from behind, and once you get on top of them on the ice, punch them as hard as you can for as many times as you can, no matter if it's the most dishonorable and cowardly way to fight someone once they're down. The Lightning aren't the toughest team. They are the dirtiest team and the most cowardly. 1 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 It was still less than a year since Hagel was suspended for his hit on Barkov (in the playoffs, no less). Remember the stadium series game this season -- I don't -- but guess what the initial penalty was? Hagel slashing Swayman. A boarding/interference on Thompson, then punching Krebs in the back of the head when he was already down and on the ice, then the sucker-punching and Bertuzzi-esque attack on Dahlin. There is a pattern here - captain, starting goalie, goal-scoring leader, captain. What, is he going to go after Werenski tonight if the Blue Jackets take a 1-goal lead? Quote
Doohickie Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 Honestly I think what Hagel did was worse than Malkin's swing in the heat of the moment. Hagel's attack on Dahlin was premeditated and Dahlin was already skating away. 1 hour ago, DarthEbriate said: What, is he going to go after Werenski tonight if the Blue Jackets take a 1-goal lead? JP51 Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 What he did was really bad... but it seems like the NHL condones these Bertuzzi type attacks... Dahlin is a big kid and has a bit of pre disposition to use his stick... he is certainly not a shrinking violet... I would suggest the Sabres do not rely on the NHL (because they clearly do not care) , rather, someone may wanna take him aside and teach him how to defend himself in a hockey fight... because he obviously has no clue... If he wants to play the way he does (and I think we all want him too) he is going to need at least a precursory understanding of how to at minimum tie up but preferably actually defend himself. Quote

Every DOPS has sucked since they’ve inaugurated the position. They are still living by 1980-2000 rules when the league has advanced. They still police it like every team needs to do their own policing. Which the Sabres haven’t done until the last week. 1 1 Quote
LTS Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 If any of this really mattered the NHLPA would take a stance and get the NHL to enforce it. They represent ALL the players after all. Quote
