Sabre The Cup Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 The vibe from other fans on X and HF Boards is that Dahlin is a dirty player. What's everyone's thoughts on that? Is he crossing a line or is he just playing like every other defenseman and people are mad because he's the captain of a winning team? 1 Quote
PonyBoy2 Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 $5 grand? Hell I could pay that.... Well... Not really 😀 Quote

I'm not going to say he's Marchand levels but Dahlin pushes buttons out there all the time. He's sneaky like that. 1 Quote

He's not any dirtier than any top-pairing D-man who has to take abuse game-in and -out, but he is dirty. And he doesn't fight, which is annoying. But back to Malkin -- Dahlin slashed him on the hand -- a really good one. That led to the net-side cross-checks and then the hack. Dahlin is Crosby-level dirty and then skates away. Rarely fighting though. 2 Quote

But the players weren't going to let the owners take significant money out of their pockets without something more significant having occurred. Thus the fine being the maximum allowable under the CBA. Get him a suspension and then we can talk real money. Quote
dudacek Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Fan bases getting a look at who Ras really is after years of not actually watching and assuming he was a Temu Erik Karlsson. Hes a competitor and a *****-disturber. And he’s not going to be intimidated. Get used to it. 1 Quote

I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 NHL DoPS memo to Sabres: "$5k fine only. Looks like you'll have to take care of Hagel yourselves. Play nice!" 1 Quote
darksabre Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Dahlin isn't dirty. The league won't allow it. He hasn't achieved Chara status where he can just assault players with impunity. When he gets there, then we can talk. 1 1 Quote

First, attempts to run Kucherov using your 4th line. Open ice hits where it’s not a blatant boarding call. Scrum, pair up, and either Beck or Geersten drop gloves and immediately start a fight with Kucherov. Second, have Carrick center Tage and Tuch (Krebs a healthy scratch). Harass Point and Guentzel with cross checks and then have Carrick fight one of the two, whether they want to or not. Lastly, since Hagel decided to go after two Sabres who didn’t want to fight, he gets Stanley. Can you please email this to Lindy? 1 Quote

It could have been much worse. Rayzor or someone needs to give him some tips on locking dudes up so he doesn’t have to eat half a dozen punches. 1 Quote
Malazan Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Honestly surprised the league didn't give him a bonus. 1 1 Quote

I watch a lot of Chris Pronger in his prime. Dahin is not cross the line dirty, but he can get a bit nasty out there. Edited March 9 by Pimlach 1 Quote

I hate to say it but he really does flail away like a teenage girl when it comes to fighting. Has absolutely zero concept of how to hockey fight. The better we do the more of this he will face as other players see it. Word will travel that Dahlin can't fight and the targeting will increase. This is where pay back fights from tough guys comes in. There's an argument to be made that we should have cared less about the score and more about smashing Hagel through the boards (etc.) but we shall see what happens come playoff time. Quote

Jarmo Kekäläinen thought we needed some bruisers and he wasn't wrong. Unreal that with all going on they just gave him 4. How does he not get 5 and game? Then a 5 game. NHL clearly approve of this type of “playoff” hockey that loser whining Cooper directs. 1 Quote

Like most D in front of the net. The rub is he doesn’t fight and they are then gonna run him. I don’t see it being ok to cheap shot and attack from begins. Cross checks get called.. jumping guys is straight goon work. Cooper gets no pass. All the old school guys think it’s deserved. It’s just not acceptable. Quote
RPop Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 13 hours ago, Taro T said: Well clearly. Had Dahlin not been such a prick breaking Hagel's stick with his thigh/pelvis then Hagel wouldn't have been upset about his favorite twig snapping. Had Dahlin not thrown the 1st uncalled crosscheck then Hagel wouldn't have been FORCED to throw his stick breaking uncalled crosscheck. 🙄 Yeah, just can't see the league riding to Dahlin's defense twice in 1 week. All good other than the context of the Lightning having already run Tage and Dahls who already fought. All these old school code guys who want to have Dahlin taught a lesson seem to ignore the fight a fighter code. So now Ruff has every right to respond to Cooper in back to backs attacking his best player. Run Kuch the ultimate cheap shot artist who makes Dahls cross checks look like love taps. But he will likely only go after fighters because of the code. Cooper is an embarrassment imho! Sabres are in his and his teams heads over speed, youth, and overall talent. 1 Quote

It was a shove with his stick. Not even that bad of one, as well. Quote

We’ve had the unfortunate circumstance of a team that didn’t matter for 15 years. So having a team invested, battling for one another is a foreign concept to most younger fans. 1 Quote
