He also hit tage dangerously from behind in the first. Hoping in early APRIL he’ll have a chance encounter with Stanley.

anybody else notice that TB went after are non fighters mostly. They got their ass handed to them when they fought Mallenstyn and #10

Eerily punches. Just Dahlin didn't get knocked out.

i hate how the NHL uses injury to determine outcome.

he should be gone for 5+, but they lost and he got 4 minutes and it was a choppy game. So the NHL will think its all square

Last year this punk Hagel knocked Barkov out and Florida took care of business with Ekblad knocking his head in.

Just saying

That’s why there needs to be preemptive strikes (plural) in the final regular season game against Tampa.  First, attempts to run Kucherov using your 4th line. Open ice hits where it’s not a blatant boarding call.  Scrum, pair up, and either Beck or Geersten  drop gloves and immediately start a fight with Kucherov. Second, have Carrick center Tage and Tuch (Krebs a healthy scratch).  Harass Point and Guentzel with cross checks and then have Carrick fight one of the two, whether they want to or not.  Lastly, since Hagel decided to go after two Sabres who didn’t want to fight, he gets Stanley.

Ekblad should have been tossed out of the playoffs for that hit. I doubt Hagel gets suspended and it's another reason to try an avoid a war if you can because you never know who gets hurt or suspended. A little recap of the Florida Tampa playoff mess. You just don't know who is going to get away with what.

Agree with this in general.  But Geersten is never wearing blue and gold again.  And yes, fully expecting Hagel and Raddysh to be spending extra time in the ice bath on the evening of April 6.  A couple others as well.

That rat bastard threw countless back-of-the-head punches last night.  To me that clearly indicates intent to injure someone.  What a POS.

Unlikely. But, this is the type of thing that should be an automatic 10-game suspension. Dahlin had already been targeted by Raddysh and fought him. He doesn't need to fight again and tried to skate away. He's the Sabres' best player; he doesn't want to spend the entire game in the box.

Imagine a linebacker going after a star quarterback after the pass-and-catch were completed and punching him. The NFL wouldn't put up with that garbage.

There 100% has to be a suspension there and it needs to be more than 5 games. Players slashing and cross-checking are part of the game. Most of the time they are targeted to hurt, not to injure. There's a line and Hagel crossed it. He couldn't stand that Dahlin didn't want to engage and instead held onto a player who was skating away and then proceeded to punch him in the back of the head, repeatedly while driving his head into the ice.

There's no place for that in hockey or, well, any sport quite frankly.

You gotta suspend him. If not, it is open season on NHL Stars and Rasmus Dahlin is an NHL Star. Jarmo Kekäläinen thought we needed some bruisers and he wasn't wrong.

Nah. He'll be back. He's under contract for next season as well, so he'll be in camp and play in the preseason. But it's true, he's been supplanted by fighters who can also play at the NHL level.

Geersten can't play hockey at anything remotely close to an NHL level and you have other guys who are tough and who can.

I don’t disagree about Geertsen. Wish he was in the lineup last night but he’s also not good at hockey so the score could have been different even if we kicked the crap out of Hagel and the like.

I don't know about 10 games compared to what you have to do to get that in the NHL but you are right about the NFL not putting up with out of control crap.

Stanley is coming...he was in attendence last night and by all accounts was chomping at the bit to get out in the action, even alluding to the fact that "we have these guys once more in a few weeks in April...that should be a fun game."

Because he is a middling AHLer at best minus the fisticuffs and possibly only a good ECHLer minus them.

The Sabres have Carrick and Malenstyn who do know how to fight and in a day or 2 will also have Stanley, Schenn, and Pearson who are all proficient in the art.  Add in guys like Kesselring and Krebs who are willing though not particularly adept and you have more than enough guys that can square off.  And that doesn't even include Dunne who can fight and has played well when he's gotten into the lineup.

This team doesn't need a Val James to come and inject a spine into the roster.  MHO.

I’ll risk going 0 for 2 and say, nope.  Not even a nasty-gram let alone a suspension.

Yeah, would be surprised if he gets even a phone hearing.  Had expected Malkin to get a game or 2, but the league isn't going to embarrass their refs for giving only a double minor on the play by subsequently handing out 3 games.  Hope to be wrong, but not hopeful of that.
