4 goals on 14 shots midway through the second.

5 goals on 18 shots early in the third.

The number of shots indicates that the D is doing its job.

The number of goals indicates that UPL is not doing his.

Lyon/Ellis or Lyon/Levi next year, please.  The Sabres can use the cap room and the third round pick.

Do you have any respect for who the other team are? We aren't playing the Rangers. Tampa is elite. That's a team that can do that to you. And we just did it to them. So what does that make us?

A team with a bad second goalie.

He had a bad game.. he’s played well.

He only plays well when he's about to be chased off of the roster.

The trade deadline passed.

You want to move on from him, but he was on the team that won the game.

Interesting take.

I think in an 8-7 game, it's a cold take to suggest the strong offence bailed out the poor goaltending

He actually make a big save at 8-7

UPL has been lights out. 15 goals were scored in the game. His team won. One bad game. I guess you would have had TB trade Vasilesky after that last game in TB.

4 on 14.  5 on 18.  Again.  The team did what it needed to do in front of him.  He did not do his job.

This will be one of those threads that ages like a cheap bottle of half drunken champagne on new years Eve night left on the island over night with the cork somewhere underneath the fridge

I've been as hard on UPL as anyone. But every body has a bad game now and then. If he can bounce back with his next game then great. But if he falls into poor play like he did a year ago after playing well for a bunch games then that's a problem. For me he's on a short leash until he can prove that this was just one bad game.

Just watched the game. In my view, this was a bizarro-world game and the goals against don’t reflect negatively on anyone. Once the game got defensively sloppy, neither team could turn it off. The key takeaways are that we stood up to Tampa’s wankery (with reinforcements on the way), and we found a way to win. I would not read anything into the goaltending or d-play. It could be a long time before we see another game like this one.

I thought he was good for the first half of the game.  After they got two quick ones he lost some control of his game  Gave up a lot of big rebounds and failed to slow things down when he could.

Loved that he came in to help Dahlin.

He had only ever been a Sabre.  He never played in a game late that.  He won it.

Not a UPL fan and believe the Sabres could have, or just can, safely move on from him.

Still, he's here, and as Lindy said the goalies have all been a part of the ride.

Have to admit seeing UPL move to save Dahlin earned my respect.

Regardless, I think the team would be better served opening up the third goalie roster spot and UPL, in my book, is the oddest goalie out.

Seventy four tomorrow. But thanks for the compliment. Maybe I’ll get carded at the liquor store too!
