He’s not my favorite but Dunleavy did a really good job last night.

He did well until the 8th goal...that was his chance to be cemented into one of the best calls in Sabres history, and he completely whiffed it. He should have had something ready to go after seeing how big of a game that was, and everything involved.

Disagree. I didn’t hear it as anything remotely close to a whiff.

Beats 6-7.  😉

The arena played the 6-7 song (I didn’t know there was a song beforehand) when we were down by that score.  As soon as the song started my son starts yelling that’s the 6-7 song!!  😅

Sabres Senators brawl was my very first game. This spurred my hatred for the Senators (see profile pic). Although I don’t hate them as much anymore. Ottawa has been nothing ever since. I’m leaning towards Tampa now

Now come up with a way to strangle a lightning bolt in a profile pic.

This game really had it all - Fights galore, 15 goals including a shorty, superstars making super plays, massive lead changes, an insane comeback, the division lead on the line, and a long-time loser team finally cementing their return to relevance - before a packed house of their long-suffering fans. CLASSIC.

Revisionist history. There was over 4 minutes left. No way to know if that was the last goal.

I thought he was great.

And the way the game was going there was a good chance there were 2 more goals left to be had in that time.

The only thing it was missing was having the game tying goal come with less than 10 seconds left followed up by some OT heroics (not a shootout).

I'll take the regulation win though.

Best regular season game I’ve ever been to. It was incredible. There were a couple of mid 70’s Philly games and a 7-6 comeback game against Boston but none of them were a statement game like tonight’s. Being there with my youngest daughter just added to the night. Go Sabres!

I'd add December 1972- Sabres beat Bruins 8-2; Schoeny ejected for his 3d fight of the game. Orr, Cashman through the zamboni door, and Vadnais

And so would that lucky fan from the Sloan Kiwanis Club. Or perhaps the lucky fan from the Tonawanda Elks Lodge.

Both of whom went home with pucks that night. His knowledge of who sat in each seat was one of the mysteries of my youth.

Yeah, I wasn’t there so I couldn’t include it in games I was at.
Still remembering turning on the radio as my family left Howard Johnson’s.

Yep. February 25, 1983. They fell behind 6-1 and won 7-6. Career AHL’er Mal Davis scored the winning goal. I can still rewind it vividly in my head. Funny how the brain works.

Rewind, you say?

Also, life is funny sometimes. Look what I found, when I thought I would never find it: "Wild and Woolly!"

What to call the game?

The brawl of the Atlantic?

The Atlantic brawl?

The brawl for the Atlantic?

I can't get anything to just roll and be memorable

Tend to agree, but whiff is strong. He got caught up in the first shot not going in and 8-7 score. I thought last night was Dan at his best. The SH Tuch call was great.

But Zucker was "cookin'"? And calling Kucherov "the magic man" in the final seconds? Weird.

I have a friend who insists the home team’s score is always on the right, so he’d say it should be the 7-8 game. 😬

Oh, no, its always the higher score first

Regulation win is better when the division race is tight.

Playoffs, I could handle some of that intensity in OT. My heart might not want that.

Love the "Buffalo is Talking Proud" flourish at the end there.

I agree, but he stubbornly insists! 🤣

I would start reading off scores in the way he hated until he either stopped being my friend or gave into the correct side.

It's not even his nickname. I didn't know who Dunleavy was talking about -- I assumed Don Majkowski. But why was he on the ice?

Seriously.  Everybody knows it's Cuchie-cuchie-Kucherov.  😉
