Unless UPL craps out in the playoffs we will be shopping him in the off season (probably at the draft).

Correct - he'll be traded in the offseason as he'll no longer be waiver exempt from being sent to Rochester and UPL/Lyon are under contract.  And there's Ellis.  So something has to give.  Have to trade 2 of the 4 goalies as I don't see them keeping 3 on the roster next year.

I hope that Jarmo doesn't have to much Tim Murray in him.  The team has a good thing going.  The fact that they didn't overpay for Thomas is a good thing.  I thought Parayko was an overpay and they slightly overpaid on the Winnipeg deal, but Rosen can't be a 2-way guy next season, so if there no spot for him (and it doesn't like there is one, even though he's much improved this season), I guess it makes sense to deal him.  Both guys they got are rentals with expiring contracts, so playoff production is needed for the deal to pan out.  Maybe Stanley will like it in Buffalo and re-sign with the team, which would also make the trade look better down the road.

If they're going for the Cup, is there a better guy to have on the team than someone named Stanley?

The Avs have an amazing thing going and traded for Kadri this season, Nelson last season.  I just don’t understand how it’s ok for all these cup contending teams to swing big moves during the season every year and why so many Sabres fans fans are ok with doing nothing because we have a “good thing going.”

Its time for Sabres fans to start thinking like they are good, not just some one off lucky to be here team.

But did Colorado trade the farm for Kadri? No. Jarmo tried. If the Friedmann tweet is true he was going to empty the Amerks for Thomas and maybe Parayko.

I’m talking general mentality, not specific trades.  The idea we have a good thing going so we shouldn’t try big things to improve and go for big things.

He is so small.  Look around the NHL, the most successful goalies are big, tall guys .

Levi is super athletic, but I always see a lot of net when I see him in there.

Like QB in the NFL, bigger is better.

Agree, that's what made Dominic Hasek such an enigma.

Levi is no Hasek. We need an indoor lacrosse goalie.

Now those dudes with the equipment are huge! 😀

We are hamstrung by NMCs since we are on most of them.

BTW, the Avs traded Olofsson, a highly regarded prospect, a 1st and a 2nd for Kadri.  Pretty big haul.

The difference is that Jarmo moved on capably to plan B after plan A failed, and when plan A failed Adams he went up to the podium to complain about it

This has always been the rub. It’s what we’ve been saying about Adams for 6 years dating back to Ullmark

It’s the essence of “what could Kevyn Adams have even done?” Jarmo answered it: add a bunch of good depth at the deadline anyways.

Doesn’t the trade thread show a bunch of surprisingly good fancy stats for Stanley?

In all the info that's flown by me over the last several days I thought I saw stats showing that he's actually pretty terrible in his own zone.  I tried to find them but couldn't.

Not sure why you're minimizing the Sabres success this year with your sarcastic "good thing going" comment. They absolutely do have a good thing going. Maybe you missed that somehow.

Especially for a guy who is a -27 this year and a -77 for his career.

I never said they don’t have a good thing going, I was responding to a comment that because they do they shouldn’t upset the team at all with big trades.  All great teams have a good thing going with many swinging big to improve that.  They aren’t scared to upset the team, or hurt their AHL teams.  That is all.  Think bigger, not scared.

We're not scared.

Hard to tell if you're serious there...

But, ragging on Kadri for being a minus player with this year's version of the Flames (and the lackluster editions of the Flames the last few years, and his early years with the Leafs when they were in garbage and then tank mode) is a choice. ROR is a minus player for his career.

Playing for bad teams and being the guy on the ice for every D-zone faceoff will do that to you. Kadri is highly unlikely to be a minus player in Colorado, even drawing difficult d-zone matchups.

-27 on a team that is +82 seems hard to do.
