bob_sauve28 Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Not a poll, just a general question. Personally, I hope he is out at least ten games. That's was vicious and reckless. Quote

Mr Peabody Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Doubtful. NHL will err on not wanting to be interfere with Pens playoff standing with Crosby out. Quote

RETURNTOGLORY Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 I do. The NHL views a malicious attempt to injure with a hockey stick (e.g., spearing, butt-ending, high-sticking, or slashing) as a severe violation of safety standards. Such actions warrant immediate match penalties, potential game ejections, significant multi-game suspensions, and substantial fines under the league's rules regarding reckless endangerment. Key aspects of the NHL’s view on these actions: Match Penalties: A deliberate attempt to injure with a stick results in a match penalty, which includes an immediate ejection from the game and an automatic review by the league. Supplementary Discipline: The Department of Player Safety often imposes long-term suspensions, particularly for repeat offenders or when the action is deemed purely malicious, such as a targeted strike to the head, neck, or groin. Definition of Intent: The league distinguishes between reckless/careless actions and intentional, premeditated acts designed to cause injury, which fall outside the accepted risks of the game. Rule 49 & 60: Specific rules govern spearing (Rule 49) and high-sticking (Rule 60), treating deliberate attempts to injure as non-hockey plays. Quote

He was angry at Dahlin's uncalled slash to his hand, but definitely realized what he'd done post-hack and had an "oh fudge" moment. Suspensions don't work on him, only money. Quote
Pimlach Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Max fine plus a game or two. He could have injured him. Anyone remember the Wayne Maki and Ted Green stick swinging fight? Send a message to others with Playoffs starting soon. Quote

Never happened LOL They were saying on the broadcast last night that he was previously suspended for very similar incidents. I know the rules are messed up, but if you get suspended for a stick swinging incident, that should never come off the look back record. Quote

LTS Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Phone hearing for Malkin. So it won't be over 5. He should get at least 1 game because of the shot to the head. Quote

matter2003 Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Zero question he gets suspended. The only question is for how long. Quote
inkman Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 I honestly have no interest in how the NHL disciplines actions like this. They have proven time and time again they are using some archaic set of standards that only the old boys club seems to know. 1 Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Dahlin gets two games for hitting Malkin's stick with his neck. DoPS has spoken. 1 Quote
SwampD Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Dahlin baited him into that, big time. It was awesome. He peppered him the entire shift leading up to that. Quote
Pimlach Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 3 hours ago, Sabres Fan in NS said: Why did no one on the ice go after him? Because he was in the dressing room. We got a 5 minute power play. We got a PPG to take the lead. Then we scored a shorty to put them away. That penalty swung the game in our favor. Quote

So, Rasmus was not hurt they wanted to be sure to get the maximum PP or something? If the Sabres are truly back and a playoff team someone needed to punch Malkin in the face immediately. Quote
