HumanSlinky39 Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 We have some interesting handles here, so just curious. Mine - I remember watching a national broadcast of a Sabres game back in, had to be ‘96 or ‘97, and after the Dominator made one of those crazy saves where he flopped all over the place and somehow stopped the puck with his skate blade or some *****, and the broadcaster said Dom looked like a “human slinky” out there. I always loved that. 3 Quote

tom webster Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 (edited) Tom Webster was the first player taken by Buffalo in the expansion draft and thennalmost immediately traded for Roger Crozier. For most of my youth I thought he was the original Sabre but found out later that Punch being Punch, he exploited a loophole to select Joe Dailey off waivers before expansion draft even started. FWIW, Webster was actually a pretty good player and later coach. He was especially good for the Hartford Whakers in the WHA. Edited March 6 by tom webster 3 5 Quote

Rip Titwide Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Mine is derived from an often used Rick Jeanneret call. Particularly in the late 90's. "Smehlik,.... ACROSS TO ZHITNIK! And HE ripped it wide" I wish Rick was still around to experience this year. God rest his soul. 3 1 2 1 Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Just now, Apollo said: Tom Jolls? Different show, but yes, Promo moonlighted with Commander Tom afternoons. Dave Thomas hosted Rocketship 7. Promo started there. Promo was Johnny Banaczek, the accordionist of the Johnny & Jimmy Duo on Dialing for Dollars. Anyone remember that show? 3 1 1 Quote

Jorcus Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Signing up for my first email account it was asking for a username. There was a race horse running around Finger Lakes named Jaws of Orcus. I thought that was a pretty funny name and shortened it to Jorcus. For many years I never gave it much thought about the meaning. When I looked it up I saw that it was traced back to Roman mythology with somewhat various forms. In general a gate to the under world or the punisher of broken oaths. There is an art garden in Italy that has a rock carving where you can walk into the mouth of Orcus. I am not into mythology or the underworld it was all about a cheap racehorse. As far as the Blockhead picture goes I noticed that the letters they used on gumby were J and G which coincide with the first names of my wife and I. We kind of adopted them as our mascots. 1 Quote

Rusty P Viaduct Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 I grew up in Depew/Lancaster where the rusty viaducts on transit road haven't been painted in 60 years. That's part of the charm of the villages. 3 4 Quote
