Wyldnwoody44 Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 I did it last winter, it was great, I did like 10 miles, stopped at a beaver tails on the way, they had fireplaces set up... They have so many entrances/exits to the canal all around the city, and cool things to stop at etc.... Finish at the byward market and then hit the Nodik spa in Gatineau that evening. 3 1 1 Quote

Byward market in the summer is great. You certainly get around, keep enjoying your travels, sampling what the world offers is such a life experience. 1 Quote

Standing Room Smoking Cigs Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 As a kid we'd play in a hockey tourney during Xmas week in Ottawa. What a blast, the kids were billeted with host teams and I am sure the parents in the hotels enjoyed some adult drink. Everyone there seemed bilingual and being so close to Hull it made sense. My billet family took me to skate the Canal, this was 12/76 a month before the Blizzard of '77, the Northeast was frozen. 1 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 Ya, I lived in Ottawa in the late 80's and we used to skate on it all the time. Used to love the ice sculptures up on Dow's lake too. Lots of government workers used to use it as a commuting method. Skate to work and then home after. Pretty unique I think. Carney was a hockey goalie in his youth. I imagine he's a decent skater. 2 Quote
