He let McDermott putter around for another 4 or 5 years after 13 seconds and they never truly changed their MO.

Similar to the void years discussion, you’re factually wrong yet again. McDermott never reported to Beane. They both reported to Pegula, and the impression from the outside was that if either had more sway in the organization, it was McD. He wasn’t going anywhere until Terry pulled the trigger. So Beane didn’t ’let’ McD do anything.

Yeesh, lighten up. I said he let him putter around. Their final two years together it seemed from the outside that they were at odds with one another, all but confirmed by the firing. If Beane was a more cut throat cunning gm he should've been able to get rid of him quicker! That is my preference, anyways.

And yes, I overstated how little Beane uses void years, but my main point was that he's not doing the crazy backloaded stuff (I heart howie roseman). It's pretty normal fan stuff to want your guy to be as good as the best. I want him to bring in big difference makers no matter how expensive they are!

Even though I was originally a Beane fan and I was never enamored with McDermott, I thought after the most recent two seasons that McDermott had a better case than Beane to stick around. But alas, McD's defense allowed that putrid 3rd and long again and Beane won Pegula's ear, and here we are.

It's not all about facts and logic. Being a fan is more an art. You gotta let your emotions lead you a little bit, especially in the offseason when there's no real action to be logical about.

So the News says that the Bills are selling tours of the stadium, but omits the important information of how to buy a ticket.  It's not obvious from the team website, either.  Anyone here have the knowledge?

Hit book event and it will take you to choice of Stadium Tour or Private Event. Hit Stadium Tour and you will be taken to buy tickets.

Fifty bucks for a 60 minute stadium tour on a random Wednesday?  That’s bonkers.

It's really not much more expensive than an afternoon at AKG, which last time I went, lasted the same amount of time because parents got tired.  I want to see the stadium as an architectural work.  I'd bet a guided tour of Sagrada Familia would be comparable (and I'd pay it).

Considering it was taxpayer-funded, bonkers and obscene.

Partially taxpayer-funded.  As is the AKG and as is Sagrada Familia.

You guys can spend your disposable dollars on expensive fishing equipment, vintage guitars, motorcycles, I won't say a word.  No need to jump on my jam, though.

I am not sure what I expected, but the cost surprised me. I didn’t intend any offense to you though.

It surprises you that rich pricks will squeeze every last penny out of people?

My personal sports fandom is holding on by a rope...so if my wife and I want to take a tour its going to cost $100?  That rope is fraying more and more ever year.

I have no idea what that means, nor do I want to.

It wouldn't have hurt the Bills to offer free tours. It's the only time many (most?) of the people will ever see it.

Two truths exist here.

For people who want to see the stadium and have a hobbyist (or professional!) interest (be it intellectual or otherwise) in really taking in, considering the facility’s design, engineering, construction, etc., the $25 fee is totally reasonable.

For people who just want to see the stadium on a more passive basis, maybe catch a vibe here or there, satisfy themselves that they’ve been in/to the thing, the not insignificant entry fee is an obstacle, and maybe offensive.

There’s a continuum here, of course. It’s not a binary division of the populace.

I think the super majority of the public (70%+) skew heavily toward the second category described above.

Security and tour guides aren't free.  Unless you want them to work for free for the billionaires.

I find it to be a reasonable price to tour a brand new facility, the likes of which I will not see again in my lifetime.

If you don't, fine.

Now, now.

We all know what the position there is: Terry should (dig another well and) absorb the cost of employing people to facilitate the tours.

And maybe hand out free ice cream treats at the end.

OK, now I get it. Terry is just passing along the cost. He's not making one plugged nickel. Certainly there is not already security at the stadium; there is no existing staff to conduct tours. Off to Indeed!

Ideally there would be 2 tours offered. One that is free (or much cheaper) that is basically a guy (or girl) walking you around the stadium telling you about the basics. You get to see the inside of it and a little more, and that is it.

A 2nd longer tour can be offered for $50+ per person, that would (possibly) take in into the press box area, some of the more exclusive club areas, possibly other things and could/should be a longer tour.

These are good ideas.

There are two tours offered.  The less expensive one is $50.  Legends (not Pegula) has to pay people to check whether you're hiding a bomb in Section 112 and also has to pay people to take you around.

Experiences cost money.  I'm not sure what's controversial here, other than people thinking that because Erie County and NYS paid about 35% of construction costs, tours should be free.

It's really just PA bitching about the Pegulas again.

I think $50 is pretty steep.

We took a tour of Fenway Park in Boston a couple years ago (you know, Boston, the city where everything is supposed to be really expensive), it was in the $20-$25 range when we took it, and It was a bit over an hour..concourses, green monster seats, rooftop gardens, press box, behind home plate, etc.

Actually it's more and worth every dime. Our whatever their equivalent of a dime is.
