JoeSchmoe Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 I saw this the other day. It's no surprise the list is dominated by Atlantic Division teams. Quote

NHL Remaining Schedule Strength | Tankathon https://share.google/4Ig6irbWu00EJrNLb 6th toughest remaining schedule of the 16 Eastern teams. Only Calgary, who has the misfortune of facing the Avs 3 times, out of the west has to play opponents with an aggregate winning %age higher than the Sabres. Reason for the Sabres schedule to look that hard is they have 3 games left against TB and still play both the Canes and the Avs again. By the time they play Dallas again, there likely will be nothing for the Stars to be playing for. Personally, expect that they have a really solid road to an NHL 0.600 over these last 25. If they don't get there, it's on them, not on the NHL schedule makers being tough on them. 3 1 Quote

Not just Atlantic teams, they also play 3 games against 2 of the only 4 good teams in the west 1 more time each. (Avs, Stars, Knights x2, the only one they're done with are the Wild) Add 3 games against TB and the strength of their schedule ramps up significantly. BUT, even WITH all of that, they only have the 6th toughest schedule in the east. Which means there's a lot of beatable teams on the schedule. And, all of those top teams are beatable too (as, unfortunately, are the Sabres also). Edited February 8 by Taro T D'oh! 1 Quote
Pimlach Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 (edited) They need the goaltending to maintain its level to play .600. Edited February 7 by Pimlach 4 Quote

Good thing is they only need 2 of the 3 guys they have to continue to play the way they have. It'd be great to have all 3 continue to give above average play, but it isn't absolutely necessary. Quote

caseydean Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 Given how tightly bunched the opponent win percentages are, this slices the bologna pretty thin. Hardly the equivalent of NFL. 1 Quote
PonyBoy2 Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 It sucks, but if the Sabre's make the playoffs all their opponents will probably be .567 or above. Good practice for them now. Quote
Demoted Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 I dont see this as a problem since playoff teams beat the teams they are supposed to. Strength of schedule really doesn't mean much in NHL. 1 1 Quote

Why do we fall, Bruce - - - west teams don’t matter, so 6/16 in east seems fine 8/9 would be in the middle so splitting hairs really Edited February 8 by Nacho Libre Quote
SwampD Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 Man, the end to this season is going to be fantastic. We'll get to see what they are made of even before the playoffs. 2 Quote
Ctaeth Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 (edited) I'm presuming that all of the Atlantic has similarly "tough" schedules, because they all play one another? edit: looks like the only from the atlantic not in the top toughest schedules is florida w/ the 18th toughest. next is toronto at 11. the rest are top 10 Edited February 12 by Ctaeth Quote
