Weak defense. Just like Power

give it up ..embarrassing.  i thought about half the team mailed it in tonight, or at least played poorly. Power was fine. I am not a Power fan but I've read tons of articles by NHL analysts/experts who say his game has been excellent. He also has more hits though 57 games this year than he had in 82 last year.

I don't think any single player can be blamed for the loss tonight. This was a team effort by a team that took the night off.

Generally speaking I agree with this idea but Bryson alone allowed two goals.

I have always defended Bryson as a solid spot defender but tonight he lost much of my wiggle room. As a sub-D player; you are primarily responsible for just not screwing up. You don't need to score or put on a show, just do your time and get through games. Tonight he was a primary component to this loss. He killed our momentum in the 1st and again in the 2nd by trying to be cute.

Quinn may someday be a great player but we can't wait for him to understand that on a 4 man rush, don't stickhandle at the blueline.

So, you base your opinions only on what "analysts" say. Lol

would love for one of our reporters to ask Ruff why Bryson played over Metsa tonight. Instead they'll lob soft ball q's at him

Back to Back regulation home losses.  Can’t happen in a year like this in the East. Your bad games still have to find a way to a losers point.

Hindsight is 20/20 and he should have played Metsa BUT he isn't good enough either

did you not watch Bryson tonight. Team was below average but if that wasn't the worst 4 minutes of hockey played by one player ever, I'd like to see worse. tripping over yourself is embarrassing enough, but, not hustling back to retrieve a puck and allowing a 19 year old to blow by you for a breakaway is horrifying

Bryson sucked, but he isn't the reason that the entire team took the night off. The Penguins played this as a team, and the best we could come up with was a few individual efforts here and there. It was an embarrassing team effort tonight.

I dont think you understand the game if your main evidence for supporting your argument is what other people have said about Power

Blondie told Marty after the game that there's nothing to worry about because the Sabres can have an off night and then just regroup. I feel so much better now.

And which analyst did you copy and paste this thought from

FYI, Power is a +2 this season compared to Dahlin who's a -5. Dahlin only averages 3 minutes more per game.

I'd say Power is definitely trending upwards.

Well, that sucked. The entire team was completely not into it. No compete, no focus. The Sabres we've watched these past two months before tonight could have easily beat what Pittsburgh put on the ice, but not the Sabres that went out there tonight. This version was a throwback to the beginning-of-the-season Sabres. No wonder this fanbase turns on the team so quickly - it's such a hassle to go to games, and expensive. I paid a lot of money and went to a lot of trouble to see the Sabres of late December '25 and January '26. What I got was 14-year-losing-streak Sabres.

He might have more hits this year than last year, but I doubt if all of his hits in the last two years combined would equal a single one of Malenstyn's hits.

I think you nailed it with a perfect synopsis of the way we played tonight. The fact that we have to wait 3 full weeks to prove that this crappy loss was just an off night for us makes it that much harder to take.

I mean,  has Kesselring even been serviceable up to this point?  I don't feel like he's had any impact.

Why an indictment that is. Thank god for Doan because otherwise, that trade would have been a huge bust. Kesselring as done nothing to impress in the least, imo.

Hopefully he uses the Olympic break to get his game together.

Kesselring and Bryson sucked hard tonight. The rest of the team just sucked. Oh well. Not a good start to my 5 pack, but the start I expected.

Also I only read like two pages of this thread but the two I read were about as weak as the Sabres performance. Do better.
