Technically the reason for the comment you replied to is that 2nd and 3rd in the Metro are also behind the WC spots. So effectively they serve as some additional buffer

IF the Sabres fall out of the top 3, well, the Aisles and Pens are only 3 and 2 points behind the Sabres currently (and though the Sabres have a game in hand on the Aisles, the Pens have 1 on the Sabres so they could effectively be tied), so they could very well be ahead of the Sabres in that situation and then ALL those Metro teams are of concern.

Keep winning and all that matters is what Moe-ray-all, De-troy-it, and TB do (with a bit of a matter what the Canes do should the Sabres catch the Bolts).  But every loss puts what's happening behind you into the circle of concern.

And right now, C-Bus is the team on the outside looking in that's closest to catching the B's; so that is the team that is of the primary concern as far as making the playoffs goes.  (Should they lose a couple, somebody else becomes the team of concern; but right now they're it and they shut out Joisey.)

I don't get angry about too many hockey games, but I am angry about this one.  Not at any one person and not at any one play.  Just generally.

Would have loved for Dahlin to score in OT there. Still the NHL (scheduling) and refs were not kind and we still should have won

Ferraro called him that at least 3 times in the 1st period and then after an intern told him what Muel's real 1st name is; he apologized profusely.

So, even in a loss, a legend is born.

Ah, had to watch the first period without sound. Thanks all for the explanation 🍻

And the entire team hopefully bought Krebs dinner after last nights game

Moneybags Doaner should just buy them all $19 dry sandwiches at the airport while they study film and watch Slapshot

Tampa scored 1 goal 5 v 5 if you don’t count the 6 on 5 with 25 seconds left to tie.  Other was a PP then the OT.  Just a great effort.

I couldn’t be happier to get 3/4.  Was worried we’d get zero on this trip considering the back to back and desperation Florida would be in.

What are we even saying now?

They've both been around for over 30 years. Their fans are not bandwagon fans -- they're 3rd generation.

It was a long trip across the glades, not much to do but avoid alligators and *****?

A 3-5 game losing streak changes everything very very quickly.

But back to tonight, We really could have used Benson tonight. Not getting talked about enough.

I thought it was a pretty good showing for the second game of a back-to-back against one of the best teams in the NHL. They gave up too many chances, but created a lot of their own and controlled play for long stretches. Some great saves by Ellis, too. I don't think they should have won, but they could have.

I'll keep saying it.  Lack of shots on goal are an issue.

100000%

We cannot rely on .800 save% as often as we do. It makes the margin for error razor thin.

Not really.  If the Sabres don't get more points than Moe-ray-all and De-troy-it the rest of the way, then they're back in the WC chase and all 16 (well, all 15, the Rags quit) are in that chase.

As long as the Islanders have fewer points than the WC teams they are the chased.

And Norris.  But everyone is missing guys.

Whats frustrating is Norris.  When we got him and he got hurt it was like, whatever season is over.  Earlier this year it was like whatever this is going off the rails.

Now with the success and expectations rising I wonder if Jarmo thinks adding a great maybe even elite center is a must.

Go all in right now.  I have no clue who that could be.  But I’m 100 percent convinced adding 1 gets us a Cup.  And one more top 4 D man.

That was a sad end to a pretty good effort from a tired and injury depleted team.  I'll take the point, but we had opportunities to take 2.  Back in 3rd in the Atlantic.  2 pts with a game in hand on Det. Win that game in hand an we takeover 2nd in the Atlantic because of more RWs.

Hope Krebs buys everyone dinner after that.

He just isn’t a smart hockey player. That’s why he has to skate around as fast as he can in the hope that effort overcomes his $.10 head.

I said to my wife during the 3rd period our collective IQ drops 20 points when Benson isn’t playing.

Krebs played 17 minutes tonight and that line was invisible.

He’s much more effective on the 4th line and when you need him in a pinch.

Delayed penalty on Tampa. Everyone on the ice keeping possession, puck goes to PK along the left boards - he skates it straight ahead right into Tampa and they get possession. Color me shocked that another possession ends on his stick.

That's true of every team.

Well then, I guess it's just as true on this message board as it is on every other teams message board then isn't it.
