This is an excellent look at the sabres structure on offence and defence.

It's very noticeable...even when they get running a bit in their own zone they mostly stay pretty disciplined and where they are supposed to be instead of chasing players around the zone and leaving wide open players near the net.

Penalty kill is a prime example...they are amazing most nights.

I could be wrong but defensively I thought they played more of a hybrid system last year and into the first part of this year. Maybe it just looked that way because they were not good at it. I am sure they rushed out of the zone more. maybe the forwards were bailing too early. Nice to see a technical breakdown.

I seemed to recall Ruff talking about a system tweak in training camp.
