Think Drury would ever trade a player to the Sabres?  I don't see him trading Panarin to the Sabres for example.

Doubt it, guy has some vendetta against us and for no perceivable reason.

Should we blame Larry Quinn?

What would it cost to get the Breadman?  I assume a player, prospect and a pick, but who (or what)?  Quinn, Rosen and a top 10 lottery protected 1st?

"There will be suffering."

I like how much extra effort he put into this being the anti-Regier letter.

If I recall, the Sabres dragged their feet on a well-deserved and earned contract extension, which led to him leaving the franchise.

That said, I doubt that would prevent him from trading with the current Sabres regime, with whom he has no connection.  He might not want to swing a trade with an Eastern Conference competitor, however.

I wonder if his letter referenced palm trees....

Many of the Rangers players have either no trade clauses or a list of teams that won't play for. In this day and age, i find these contracts or stipulations to be ridiculous!

In light of a collective bargaining agreement, I agree with you.  These create a competitive disadvantage for some franchises and the owners should not have allowed them to exist in the CBA.

Other than the Panarin rental, Will Cuylle is the only other player of interest. I doubt they want to part with him but they are probably looking for multi player deals to restock the shelves. Not sure what he would be worth and probably not a fit for us right now given contract timing.

Maybe it was the contract offer that never happened?

Forget about Panarin. I want Zibanejad.

I don’t see Panarin agreeing to Buffalo anyway.  Zibby is 32 and makes 8.5M through the 29-30 season.

If Zib is added it would cost us in assets and would preclude us from signing Tuch. No thank you.

I also want to re-sign Tuch for the right term.  The discussion was Zibanejad or Panarin.

Any trade will cost us in assets BTW.

Especially with Panarin, it makes little sense to me to give up substantial assets for a rental player like Panarin. Considering how the team is currently playing, I would rather ride the season out with our current roster and when needed draw from our own system. The offseason is a better time to construct a major deal. That doesn’t preclude making some less costly depth deals this season.

I give credit to Jarmo for so far sticking with what is working and not making moves for the sake of showing others that he is now in command.

Similar to what we did to Reino, except in the end we got some value back from Sam.

For some reason I feel that Zibanejad would end up like Skinner if the Sabres got him.

True on Jarmo.  He immediately said he believes that they can make the playoffs.  He is smart enough not to change what is working.  Now he has Bergevin doing an evaluation as well.  Time is on his side

I think they could use a solid vet defenseman for 6/7 depth, one that can help the PK which seems to be getting strained with both Timmons and Kesselring out.  They both were playing well on PK.   That could wait until closer to the trade deadline, it depends on who is still standing.

We could use help in the top 6 too, but that might come in a bigger off season move.

On the 3 goalie front Ellis is looking unpolished.  They might see what they can get for him.

That’s were we need Bergevin and Jarmo to filter through that.

Panarin has a full no movement clause so that would be entirely dependent on him.

This, 100%. An old school net front clearing, shot blocking, gritty veteran that has a bit of life left. He could be load managed once Kesselring and Timmins return. Not necessarily the guy but a Ryan McDonagh type.

I am not a fan of the smurfs 3rd pairing. The top 4 love getting tons of minutes but they may break down keeping that up.
