Was Theismann drafted the same year the Fishies drafted Griese?  Know he was drafted by them but he refused to play STs so they cut him.

I also had to look it up. Fascinating answer. The weird part is I started typing in the question 'What team drafted ... ' and at that point the drop down showed the complete question as the second option. Must have been your inquiry @Porous Five Hole.

The whole organization was such a mess back then.  LaFontaine hires Nolan on an interim basis and LaFontaine hires GMTM soon after. And then immediately loses a power struggle and LaF is gone. I needed last season so bad…I can let go of some of this stuff.

The mask is on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.[13] The mask-cage combination goalie mask is now the norm in modern hockey

For those who haven’t looked it up, it was 1979 when the KC Royals drafted John Elway and Dan Marino. I believe back then, baseball had separate drafts for high school kids and college players but I’m not sure.

Did not know that, or had forgotten that.  Danke.

And Ken and Dave designed goalie leg pads that weren't just stuffed with deer hair.  They were about 50% lighter than what was available at the time.  Ken said when he 1st started using them he ended up missing a LOT of kick saves because his leg was past where it should've been when the puck finally got to him.

Boston is the only team that's been in the Sabres division from day 1.

The Habs weren't there from when the Caps entered the league through to the early 80's realignment and subsequent heavily weighted divisional play rules; but games weren't as crazily weighted within the division then while the 2 weren't in the same division.  So, personal guess is the B's, but the Habs are possible too.
