I remember Roger Nielsen and Jimmy Roberts, can’t think of the third without looking it up although I guess if he proceeded each, his last takeover would be three. Quote

Schoenfeld. He was canned after getting 43 points in 43 games. And then Scotty upped their play to a level that saw them wind up with, checks notes, 80 points in 80 games. And missing the playoffs with a legit 0.500 record. Quote

So wouldn’t that be four stints then? 1) 1st when he was hired 2) 2nd after Roberts 3) 3rd after Roger 4) 4th after Schoney Quote

PASabreFan Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 A pretty good summation of the coaching carousel under Bowman. https://www.upi.com/Archives/1982/06/15/Saying-there-was-no-need-to-make-a-coaching/4938392961600/ Dang where is my Budd Bailey book? 1 Quote
PASabreFan Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 What was behind the coaching schmozzle during Bowman's tenure? His ego or did the Knoxes, ahem, meddle? Quote

He wanted to be the GM. The Knoxes wanted him to be the coach. They settled in the middle quite often with him as the coach/GM. 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 (edited) Names of sons of former Sabres currently playing in the NHL? I can think of 4. Edited January 6 by GASabresIUFAN Quote

I want to take a shot at Rochester. Johnson, Leschyshyn, Kuntar I bet there’s someone else who is similar to the missing Sabre. 1 Quote

Hint: Father and Son both played for Miami of Ohio. Edited January 6 by GASabresIUFAN Quote

Tage and Norris are both better than their Dad’s as well. Doan has a long way to go until he’s at his Dad’s level, but he’s off to a solid start. Another hint for the Amerk. He was born in the same metro area as Tage. Quote
Porous Five Hole Posted January 7 Author Report Posted January 7 Jan 7: TRIVIA What player set a Sabres team record with 354 penalty minutes in the 1991-92 season? This got me thinking…Is this the least likely team record to be broken? Only nine guys had more than 100 PIMs in the whole league last year. Quote

Someone is more likely to break that than to surpass Haseks Vezinas Quote

I think all of the NHL PIM records will stand and may eventually be relegated to the back pages. Kids want to be more like Owen Power than Chris Pronger. It was a different game, I want to see battles and grit but not shortened lifespans from head trauma. 1 Quote

PS You got Kuntar and his Dad only had 6 NHL games. I wonder if Trevor will ever get to 6 games. I wonder if 7 games between father and son is a record low for a father son duo in the NHL? dudacek Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 (edited) Since 2011, 22 defencemen have played at least 100 games for the Buffalo Sabres. Only three of them have an overall ES goals-for percentage over 50 as a Sabre during that span. Name them. (Worst number, Mike Weber at 37.2% over 260 games). Edited January 8 by dudacek Quote
