Scotty Bowman had three different tenures as head coach of the Sabres.

I remember Roger Nielsen and Jimmy Roberts, can’t think of the third without looking it up although I guess if he proceeded each, his last takeover would be three.

Schoenfeld.

He was canned after getting 43 points in 43 games.  And then Scotty upped their play to a level that saw them wind up with, checks notes, 80 points in 80 games.  And missing the playoffs with a legit 0.500 record.

So wouldn’t that be four stints then?

1) 1st when he was hired

2) 2nd after Roberts

3) 3rd after Roger

4) 4th after Schoney

Wasn't he "cocoaching" with Roberts?  So, techinically not a replacement of him.

What was behind the coaching schmozzle during Bowman's tenure? His ego or did the Knoxes, ahem, meddle?

He wanted to be the GM.  The Knoxes wanted him to be the coach.  They settled in the middle quite often with him as the coach/GM.

Nice pickup on Geoff’s kid. I forgot about him.

Ok, which current Sabres are sons of former NHL players?  Which Amerks?

Yes, they are.  Came over in a trade.

That other answer is damn near diabolical. 5 NHL games played?

I want to take a shot at Rochester.
Johnson, Leschyshyn, Kuntar

I bet there’s someone else who is similar to the missing Sabre.

You are missing one for the Amerks.  Trevor’s dad played for Nichols.

Hint:  Father and Son both played for Miami of Ohio.

The son is definitely better than the Dad.   Tage and Norris are both better than their Dad’s as well.  Doan has a long way to go until he’s at his Dad’s level, but he’s off to a solid start.

Another hint for the Amerk.  He was born in the same metro area as Tage.

Jan 7: TRIVIA

What player set a Sabres team record with 354 penalty minutes in the 1991-92 season?

This got me thinking…Is this the least likely team record to be broken? Only nine guys had more than 100 PIMs in the whole league last year.

Someone is more likely to break that than to surpass Haseks Vezinas

I think all of the NHL PIM records will stand and may eventually be relegated to the back pages. Kids want to be more like Owen Power than Chris Pronger.

It was a different game, I want to see battles and grit but not shortened lifespans from head trauma.

Yes, Red Savage.  He’s Brian Savage’s kid and has played decently in 8 Amerks games this season.

PS You got Kuntar and his Dad only had 6 NHL games.  I wonder if Trevor will ever get to 6 games. I wonder if 7 games between father and son is a record low for a father son duo in the NHL?

Ahhh, I only looked at guys with NHL contracts. That’s the easiest way to miss had the Amerks players.

Since 2011, 22 defencemen have played at least 100 games for the Buffalo Sabres.

Only three of them have an overall ES goals-for percentage over 50 as a Sabre during that span.

Name them.

(Worst number, Mike Weber at 37.2% over 260 games).
