Believer Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Interesting top line. Time for Thompson and Tuch to deliver. Quote
ponokasabre Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Östlund needs to go down if he is sitting Who was in the starters net? Quote
triumph_communes Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I would swap Zucker and Greenway but I understand the concept regardless 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I guess... at least Greenway isn't playing center this time as he did in his season debut? Quote
Brawndo Posted 2 hours ago Author Report Posted 2 hours ago Östlund going down and keeping all three of these goalies is certainly a choice 1 1 Quote
sabresouth Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Wow, in what universe is Greenway a top line winger? This organization is an absolute disaster. 1 Quote
sabresouth Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I keep coming on here and hoping I'll see a fifty page thread that just started an hour ago about ka being jetisoned. No such luck yet. Sigh... 1 Quote

No such luck yet. Sigh... That isn’t happening this season. We just have to hope Daddywantsbucks finds some other cheap version of an NHL staff. We know he’s not going to pay top dollar or bring anyone in that scares him (I.e. has opinions and wants to use them). Quote
HumanSlinky39 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago If Greenway is on the top line, Lindy should be immediately dismissed on principle alone. 2 Quote

Jordan Greenway. 1 goal and 2 assists in 14 games so far. He can't stay healthy. I'd be worried about him getting more than 15 minute of ice time without breaking. He has 5 goals in his last 72 games. And THIS is who you are even thinking of using on that top line? If I'm Tage, as soon as Adams is done talking to Östlund, I'm going there and demanding a trade away form this team. Lets send Ostund, who has legit been having good games...lets send him down...while giving the offensive powerhouse in Greenway top line minutes and making sure we can keep all 3 of our below average goalies instead. Frustrating. Edited 1 hour ago by mjd1001 Quote

They are one top veteran forward away from a decent line up but they don't go and get that forward, they just plug in Greenway instead and thus we stay where we are. Quote

Given his personal life this year he might really want a new start in a new place as well. All depends on how his wife is and how tied (or not tied) she is to the community. I know the feeling because many years ago my wife almost died in childbirth and after she didn't, she kind of felt like it's a "new bonus life" and she wanted to throw caution to the wind for several years and that's when we took the kids and moved across country to the west coast. It's a real rebirth moment when you go through something near death and serious and if she has it, he might want it too. Quote

This isn’t the first time Jordan has found himself on the 1st line this season. This is the result of a GM without the mental acuity to do anything other than what the players contracts will allow (aka keeping Östlund up based on performance) and a coach who has no creativity. 2 Quote
mjd1001 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Greenway is a below average player who really is only useful penalty killing, he's injury prone and not reliable. But they signed him to an extension for this year and next year a $4m per year, so they are forcing him in there to justify that deal. There was little chance he was going to play more than 60 games in a season. Per game, you are paying him like a 2nd line player when he doesn't even produce like a good 4th liner. Quote

mjd1001 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Looking at the analytics, Since Greenway has been here, he and Tage have played together almost 270 minutes. When they are together, the Sabres score a goal once every 15 minute of ice time. That number is not that bad, its pretty good actually. Maybe Lindy is so frustrated that he is down to making his lines based on a spreadsheet? I'll give it one game to see if it works....not that I have any input and could over-ride the decision anyway. I'm feeling that real world common sense will win out over past analytics and show this is a bad move..but who knows at this point. Edited 1 hour ago by mjd1001 Quote

Paul Hamilton stated postgame last week that Thompson likes playing with Greenway. There are positives and negatives but it is a big line and will be hard to push around. Who is coming in for Östlund. Edited 1 hour ago by Jorcus Quote
