quill Posted yesterday at 09:21 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:21 PM And if you can't think of anyone who you'd really miss watching play for us, then which player or players, if any, would you miss just a little? Quote
Huckleberry Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Dahlin , Doan , Zucker, Mule (this years version) , Tage, Kozak, Östlund. Edit: Forgot Benson Edited 19 hours ago by Huckleberry 1 Quote
Crusader1969 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Dahlin but he isn't at the level I expected him to be this season. I think you can see the frustration building as the season goes on That being said, I'm giving him lots of leeway due to the summer he had. I fully expect he returns to elite level next season. Quote
HumanSlinky39 Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago (edited) Dahlin - I'm giving him a pass for his degraded play this year due to all the personal stuff he's dealing with. Coming into this season I think he was a legitimate top-10 defenseman. TNT - His inconstancy can be frustrating, but he's the most gifted offensive player we have. Plus he seems to have developed a mean streak. Zucker - Just a hard-nosed, greasy guy that does a little bit of everything. Doan - Same as Zucker but a dozen (I think) years younger. Benson - Our little ball of hate. Plays with max effort every shift. Playmaking has improved this year. Needs to start scoring more goals. I think the Sabres did his development a disservice by throwing him right in the frying pan at 18 on a bad team. Norris - (when healthy) is a very talented offensive centreman who plays a pretty responsible two-way game. McLeod - Fastest guy on the team, outstanding penalty killer, doesn't wow defensively, but I feel like he's one of our better forwards in that aspect. Tuch - On the fence here. Before this season, he was an excellent player. I think the losing is wearing on him because I don't think he's giving full effort on a lot of shifts. Guys like Kulich, Ostland, and Rosen are just potential right now. Muel has been good this year. Power and Byram can kick rocks. The rest of the forwards I wouldn't even notice if they were gone...same for the goalies. Edited 22 hours ago by HumanSlinky39 Quote
Night Train Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago The team needs a trade like 45 years back. Gare, Shoney and Derek Smith to Detriot for McCourt, Foligno and Brett Peterson. Send a shock through the organization . In last place..again ! Nothing to lose but our minds. Sick of this nonsense. No one is safe. Get some freakin' grit. 1 Quote
Carmel Corn Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Benson and maybe Tuch. Honorable mention to Doan. 1 Quote
Weave Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Well, I am sure not missing not watching any of them right now. 1 1 1 Quote
Mr Peabody Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago (edited) I’m sure I have recency bias but I’d cope well without any and all. I probably pull for Malenstyn now as much or more than the rest. Gives it every shift. Zucker and Doan are also fun to watch. Edited 19 hours ago by Mr Peabody 1 Quote
quill Posted 20 hours ago Author Report Posted 20 hours ago To answer my own question, the players I would really miss watching would be Dahlin and Zucker. Dahlin for his sheer all around talent and Zucker for his intensity for the game and his hockey smarts. Honorable mention to McLeod, Doan, and Malenstyn, all selfless players who add some excitement. Pimlach Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago I won’t miss any of them. I save that for special players on special teams who gave me enjoyment and pride. 7 1 1 Quote
LGR4GM Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago (edited) Dahlin, Benson, Doan, Zucker I'm going to add Tuch to this. Edited 19 hours ago by LGR4GM Quote

You nailed it for me with two of your phrases: "pull for" in your reference to pulling for Malenstyn and "fun to watch" referring to Doan and Zucker. Other than winning, I don't know what could be more important for a fan than having players you enjoy pulling for and players who make the game fun for you to watch. Quote
kas23 Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago For those saying Tuch, well, I got news for you…. If you miss him, you can always tune into the team he’s on next. Quote

I think the fanbase has forgotten what truly special players on truly special teams feel like. Missing these guys is like celebrating Phil Housley’s number in the rafters. 1 1 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago If they were ALL traded I honestly don't think I'd miss anyone. Not if the team they got was a unit that could win. There are no untouchables here for me. I mean I like Benson and Dahlin is a top player who even has a little nastiness sometimes (which I think would come out more on a different team where he felt truly protected) and Doan and McLeod are okay but if you want to clean house have at it. After all the years of losing I don't think you can do another rebuild and keep Dahlin though. I don't think he'd be on board with another 5 year plan. You could only keep the very young ones. 1 Quote
Slack_in_MA Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Zucker and Doan for their love of the game vibe. Dahlin can be a difference maker, but just isn’t all too often. Tage- lots of talent, but doesn’t strike me as someone who puts the team on his back. I’m sure my recency bias is showing. Oh well. Edited 17 hours ago by Slack_in_MA Quote
elijah Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Dahlin, Benson, McLeod, Doan, Tage, Östlund I’d be upset at a Quinn trade, I think he still has potential to be a dynamic player and have kind of glued myself to him as I like him while most don’t. That being said, I wouldn’t be heartbroken. Quote
Believer Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago None. Would be focused on our new players. Don’t live in the past. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago It depends on for whom they're traded. Quote
