Hellebuyck is only costing them $8.5M on the cap. With the rising cap, they could spend that much on a backup. 

But I still think that if I'm an opposing GM, the Sabres have to retain for me to consider trading for Luukkonen. If I'm a good GM, Buffalo is sending me a sweetener to take a backup with that contract.
