That’s it for me today.

For those of you still filled with hope or gluttons for punishment, will see you here tomorrow. Goodnight.

Go Sabres!

I just had a terrible thought.

They finish last in their conference again and Terry follows the rumored plan.  Adams to POHO, Jarmo to GM, Karmonos leaves, Ruff to Advisor, Appert to HC, Leone leaves, Prospal leaves.

Thank goodness I was out enjoying some gluhwein at a local Kristkindl market with my lovely wife and a good friend.

Doan, Kesselring, and Benson are all RFAs, too - right? I mean the could refuse to sign, i guess? But that is not a great business decision.

It worked for Peterka. At least as far as getting away from Adams and this franchise.

It's the most logical solution. The answer was in the room. Those other guys were in Rochester at the time.

It's really a matter of how much control does Jarmo get when he becomes GM. Or, does he also walk because he realizes that Adams will always be there to neuter his own decisions?

So glad I have tickets to one of them.

There’s an absurdity to being a Sabre fan. You have a choice of being either upset or simply fading away like many others are doing. The owner took a pillow and smothered the fan base.

Life is hard, I wish the sabres weren’t such a mess. Can’t even be mad at them today

we’ll be great again one day. I’ll always love them. Even though we suck.

Agree, and so goes it as a Buffalo sports fan.

I see no reason to believe anything other than this happens. Because, as I always say, this is not a serious hockey organization.

41 shots on goal. Pretty good for lifeless. Effort wasn't the issue tonight.

That's true, but 41 shots on goal with no goals scored is could either be the sign of the opposing goalie standing on his head all night against a good team that knows how to finish or the sign of a goalie who had a routine night mostly stopping easy shots or wide angle, low percentage shots from a crappy team that has no idea how to get good scoring chances in front of a goalie and actually finish by putting one in.

The Devils could have beaten us with just one shot today from just one of the odd man breaks they scored on us, let alone shutting us out 5-0. Our D-men and our forwards are all horrible in our own zone. Combine that pathetic defensive play with such lousy teamwork on offense, along with never ever having a goalie you can count on to make a big save, and it's a recipe for disaster day after day, season after season, for what's turned into an eternity with no ending in sight.

Here is what I wish would happen RIGHT NOW

- Kevyn Adams is strapped to a rocket wearing nothing but tar and feathers and launched into outer space. (Simply being fired will suffice if the theatrics are too much)

- Jarmo is named his replacement. Jarmo built some pretty damn good teams in Columbus, something many felt impossible at the time.

- Jarmo fires Lindy and his stooges (if that's too harsh, convince him to step down and make him an "advisor") and somehow convince DeBoer to take the job. It looks hopeless now, but with a good coach steering this ship, there's still a chance to make the playoffs. *Insert Mora meme here*

- Use the rest of the season to evaluate who's worth keeping and who needs to go. If you're not legit pushing for a playoff spot at the deadline start moving guys to the highest bidder.

- After the season, hire a POHO with experience, a vision, and a willingness to hold guys accountable at all levels of the org.

- Actually try to REALLY improve the roster in free agency. Jarmo convinced Johnny Hockey (RIP) to sign with Columbus. He has the chops. Just checked, there's no palm trees in Columbus, either.

Here is what I think will happen

- Nothing.

Anyone else done with UPL and Lyon? They need to rid themselves of 1 if not both and hand the keys to Ellis for the remainder of the season.

Yep and just bring up Levi and call it a day. He performs or plays himself off the team too.  Just so many games where the Sabres play well and lose because the other teams goalie plays better than ours.

Here’s a crazy thought:

They’re struggling to score, yet the guy who ranked third in Goals per 60 during his time with the Sabres is sitting in the AHL — while they keep rolling out a forward who has zero goals in 23 games. What are we doing here?

not to mention Rosen is tied for 2nd in points per game in the AHL (players with 10 or more games played)

Quite often effort isn't the issue...not any more so than other teams. THE ISSUE is a poorly constructed, low skill level team that isn't helped by coaching or management. 41 shots and ZERO goals???? 6 goals allowed??? Players aren't skilled enough to pass and shoot with accuracy. Defenders are unable to help keep the puck out of the net! Coaches aren't coaching strategies that these particular players are capable of playing. Duuuuh???

Exactly. Lots of effort but no coordination. And toward the end they sold out on scoring so hard they gave up the odd man rushes.

I watched this on replay so late to the funeral but it was same same. In a way they played just as well as NJ for much of it but 2 brutal giveaways by Byram and weak D by everybody (just watching the puck instead of doing their job) on the other one and that's 3-0 game over. The rest of the goals I don't really count as much as they were pressing and playing up so inevitable if you lose possession. It's the same stuff all the time for years now. No real surprises.

Mixed feelings on the Thompson fight but I do wish he'd be that guy more often.

Anyone still think they will make the playoffs?

Unfortunately that's a dangerous path to take.

The season might be lost, but the Tuch decision has to be made before the deadline.

Doan, Kesselring, and Benson need new contracts.

Dead weight like UPL, Greenway, and Byram needs to be moved.

Putting these decisions off until the offseason is not smart, and in Tuch's case not really possible.

Seriously, if the Pegula wants to give a new GM the best possible circumstances for success, he's coming up fast on the point of no return.

If you want to talk about dead weight then someone like Conor Timmons needs to be one of the main subjects of the conversation, not nearly as much UPL, Greenway, or Byram do. Trading Conor Clifton, who was one of the few tough players we had on the roster, for a slug like Timmons just to dump salary made us an even weaker team than we already were. Even on a sorry team like the Sabres, Timmons will never amount to anything more than a 3rd pair D-man, if even that.

Moving Connor Timmins doesn't turn this team around though. Even without him and his worst games, this team isn't much different.

The failures this year are about Dahlin morphing into a turnover machine (at least it seems like it), Byram getting top minutes but not being close enough to deserve them, Tuch's forchecking and backchecking disappearing to the point he is a liability without the puck, average-to-below average goaltending, McLeod taking a major step back (in terms of HIS play without the puck), a lot of injuires...and other things. Timmins to me is WAY down the list of problems this team has.

We are definitely at rock bottom is there is even one Sabres fan pinning for the good old Connor Clifton days 🤦‍♂️

I don't think Terry will do anything until the offseason. He doesn't wanna pay the extra money. Seasons over on November 28th.

Once he gets Kevyn to walk he’ll hire the hot dog vender to GM. And why not, par for the course with this owner.
