PromoTheRobot Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago 74 if you count Dahlin's leave of absence. It leads the NHL by a mile https://nhlinjuryviz.blogspot.com/2025/10/202526-NHL-man-games-lost-plots.html Kris baker and Matthew Fairburn discuss this and other things related to Kevyn Adams on their latest pod, including potential succession scenarios. 3 Quote
Slack_in_MA Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago So many questions. From my career doing process improvement and problem solving analysis, I want the data to try to answer the "why". Anytime there's an outlier, there's typically a special cause, not random variation. Might not be enough data to determine that though. Quote
Gatorman0519 Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Considering the amount of time key players are going to be out, this season is doomed. Quote
Thorny Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Striking that amidst the cavalcade of shite we are on pace for about the same about points as we did every other year under Adams. Really says something about his performance the years we didn’t suffer an ungodly amount of injuries 78 point GM on average, rain sleet or shine 1 Quote

However close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Quote

Zucker gets some freak virus where he can't eat solid food for over a week and loses a ton of weight. Kulich gets blood clots which is something very rare for someone his age Dahlin's leave if absence is him having to be with a fiance that had to have a freak heart transplant Greenway was recovering from an injury suffered last year 1 Quote

Carmel Corn Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago GMKA extension will become reality due to the injury excuse…..there is no hope for this team’s future. Quote

Well Kevyn certainly is special, innit? Seriously though, this is going on too long to be a random variation. 11 hours ago, pi2000 said: is that bad? Yeah, that’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point. 1 Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted 7 hours ago Author Report Posted 7 hours ago Did anyone listen to the podcast I linked? It discussed Kev stepping down (or up?) to allow Jarmo to be GM and take over deal making. Also they say Jarmo has been in Buffalo daily, in the building and at practices, not living in Columbus full time as we believe he is. 1 Quote

I tried to tell ppl last month that Jarmo was in Buffalo but it got no traction. It's pretty clear to me Jarmo being interviewed for gm and is here so Pegula gets to know him and is comfortable. I have this hope Adams has the capacity to recognize he can't do it and will be moved to advisor to the owner role. 1 1 Quote

Baker and Fairburn aren't a couple of amateur hot heads. Fairburn is the Sabres beat writer for the Athletic and Baker runs the website Sabres Prospects. They are both fairly plugged in. Fairburn in particular paints a picture of Adams and Kekalainen working in tandem, not of Adams looking over his shoulder. They think a transition is in the works, perhaps mid season. I wonder if a deal for Chinakov is near? They didn't mention it specifically, but stressed how vital it is for the locker room to make a move to show they are trying to bolster the team. Not at all. He's another oft-injured bottom six guy. His best game this season was against the Sabres (at the height of his trade rumors, trying to be noticed by his own coach or around the league) and he hasn't scored a point since. 30 minutes ago, LGR4GM said: Im not a big chinakov guy. Soooooo, a proposed trade by our (not-officially confirmed, but most-likely) future GM, and it's got the feels a dud move? Greaaaaaaaat 😒 1 Quote

msw2112 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I don't hate Adams and I don't think he's all bad. He's from the area and I believe he loves the organization and wants to do well by it. He's played in the league and even has a Stanley Cup ring. He went to a pretty good college (Miami of Ohio) and has a MBA (albeit from an online program, but it's better not having one at all), so he's not stupid. He now has lots of experience in a NHL front office. He gets along with the owner. So find him a spot in the front office. All of the above said, he's not a very good GM, so get him the hell out of that role. If Jarmo is the guy, I'm fine with that. He's experienced, he's had some success in the role in the past, and he's well respected around the league. Injuries may well be the reason the Sabres season goes sideways, but it's not a good reason to give Adams another bite at the apple as the team's GM. Time may have passed Ruff by, but he's at least had some success in his role in the past and is well respected around the league too. If Jarmo wants to keep Ruff beyond this season, I can live with that. But, for god's sake, please purge the assistant coaches and start with some new blood there. I believe that they're holding Ruff back a little bit. If Jarmo wants to hire a new coach, that's fine too, but Appert CANNOT be the guy. 1 Quote
