Leman also writes that Dahlin's plan is to return to Buffalo. "Absolutely. My career continues." https://www.expressen.se/sport/hockey/shl/rasmus-dahlin-tranar-med-frolunda/ via Google translate. Google translate huh? I think we all know who's behind that. Edited Monday at 06:29 PM by PASabreFan 2 Quote

Mr Peabody Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Question here. Since this is a very serious rehab period for her, could Ras ask for a “pause” in his contract and play in Sweden this year and next? Contract years would resume when he comes back? Quote

This year and next sound like a problem to me. He might be able to get out of his contract with the Sabres holding his NHL rights if he ever wanted to come back? Then there is injury and liability to consider. 1 Quote

Eleven Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I think we're just going to have to deal with Dahlin taking a couple of weeks off two or three times per season. Quote

I might take it a step further and suggest that if his fiancee and future wife must stay in Sweden to be nearer to her medical team and precluded from joining Dahlin in the US as a result, then Dahlin may choose to simply stay there, too. Tough situation for everyone involved. Quote

thewookie1 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago My guess is Dahlin will be back and forth this year and possibly over the summer they'll return to the U.S. and finish her Year 1 Plus here. You are recommended not to travel until 1 year after the surgery so I'd imagine that's what they'll wait for. Then as long as she recovered well they'd be back in Buffalo 1 Quote

I know Sweden has public health care but Rasmus can afford the best care for Carolina because of his current salary. Edited 1 hour ago by PromoTheRobot Quote

That said, I still think he'll "commute" periodically. Too bad work-from-home doesn't work in hockey! Quote

I know Sweden has public health care but Rasmus can afford the best care for Carolina because of his current salary. I don’t know what his values and priorities are. All I know is that the professed love of his life is thousands of miles away and recently underwent an emergency heart transplant in France and he felt compelled to be with her. It may be easy for him to walk away from the money, who knows? We are in no position to project our value system onto him and his fiancee. Sweden’s socialized health care has nothing to do with it given where the surgery was performed and where her medical team resides. But Sweden is a heck of a lot closer to France than Buffalo is, that’s for sure. 2 Quote
