By the time the calendar flipped, teams were taking the Sabres seriously.  And any that weren't definitely were doing so after the Olympic break.

I'm not sure that's entirely true but if we are as good as some people here think we are we'd still be playing. The team still needs to be better.

Agree. We have a couple/few pieces to insert yet.

For me it is a true 1A netminder, a true 1st line center.

We can always tweak what we have existing as well, but these 2 positions are critical imho.

I think we need that but also a better PK D than Timmons and a shut down center. Something similar to how Montreal added Danault. Those shutdown guys are always big in the playoffs.

Ya, you see how unimportant to me he is? I still haven't learned how to spell his name.

Its not exactly Pominville level difficult.

The Sabres could have won it all this year. We easily beat Vegas on the games we played against them

Maybe, but doesn’t always work like that. Anaheim was 3-0 vs Vegas in the regular season

Hamilton Hammers. Potentially one of the worst teams I’ve ever heard.

Yeah, their ownership group definitely doesn't listen to GR, or they definitely would've been the (Paul) Hamiltion Ham Sammiches.

I was tempted by an eerily similar joke. Glad I didn't give in. 😉

Some sad news

RIP this is heartbreaking. You never know the inner demons some people carry behind a facade of normalcy. I feel badly for his friends and family

His family is donating his brain for CTE research, seems like it's a given considering his career and the era he played.

Also saw an article where someone was saying this is because he isn't in the Hall of Fame and that going back to Montreal and getting the crowd reaction made not being in the Hall of Fame worse which just seems like someone really reaching for a storey

Dallas Stars building new billion dollar barn in Plano, TX

For Mavericks and Stars, why is American Airlines Center obsolete? https://share.google/SgK9XZkl0u5wCTvUm

“Under the proposed agreements for the Stars' potential arena in Plano, the city would own the site and the arena and enter into an initial 30-year lease agreement with the team. The terms are to be negotiated, according to city documents.”

“…the city plans to contribute $700 million in funding through bonds backed by revenue from a tax increment reinvestment zone.”

Funny how WNY municipalities want out of the stadium ownership business and this Texas municipality is diving into it.

“The butts-in-seats [model] is really the 20th-century model,” Heere said. “Now, the younger generation, they don’t want to sit in their seat for three hours. They want a more hospitality-driven experience…”

Is WNY an exception to this, to a point? The Caps are heading toward a 30% of capacity being “premium experience” seating. But they have DC corporate money. That model makes a lot less sense in Buffalo.
