K-9 Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Helenius with his second of the playoffs from Mrtka to make cut it to 2-1. Levi standing on nis head. Quote
K-9 Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 And just like that the Marlies score on the PP to go up 3-1. Levi with no chance. Damn. Quote
K-9 Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Nadeau on PP to get it to 3-2 Marlies late in the 2nd. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Looks like all the mojo has left the Amerks and Bandits and going into the Sabres. 4-2 final. That's the season. So long, Don Stevens. Quote
pastajoe Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 An empty net goal seals the Amerks fate as they end a disappointing season with a 4-2 loss, despite a 35 save effort from Levi. Quote

So long, Don Stevens. Levi kept them in the game but the Amerks just didn’t have enough. Losing Östlund, Dunne, and Rosen along with some key injuries were too much to overcome. Some bright spots though and something to build on moving forward. 2 Quote
BMWR100RT Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Don Stevens was a blessing for an AHL franchise. I'm going to miss him. 3 1 2 Quote

DarthEbriate Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Nadeau quietly had a good little campaign. Can he become a net-front PP producer for the Amerks for a few seasons? Only Mrtka got into the playoff games of the rookie defensemen. Strbak and McCarthy scratched. Quote

I like him most on the powerplay where he doesn't have to skate up and down the ice... can just play to what he excels at by planting himself in front and trying to tip it. He's definitely got a nice touch & would definitely benefit from playing with some more skilled players. He struggles to generate any of his own offense though 1 1 Quote

Not much speed and puck handling skills but was willing to go to the net, plant himself there and get the greasy goals. One of his linemates was Mavrik Bourque who carried the mail and fired on net. The Amerks offense was Helenius/Jones this season. Helenius is probably 50/50 to start the season in Buffalo (they've got the contracts to keep him down and continue to percolate if they want). It goes to 100% up if Tuch walks, in my estimation, though they shouldn't try to get the roster younger. Anyway, that said, I was thinking they probably need a playmaker (who could make use of a Nadeau in front of the net, or Wahlberg as he grows). Looks like Richard is back to UConn next season. Ziemer is confirmed back to the Gophers. And that's when I thought of the playmaker they never offered a contract. How did ol' Viljami Marjala do in his 1st AHL season? 72 GP 17-43-60 good for 20th in points in the league (Helenius was 10th, Jones 13th). A -8, but that was better than Helenius/Jones. Playoffs? 3 GP 0-6-6 and -3. Leading the playoffs in scoring, but poor 5 on 5. Another decent Sabres pick -- at least to help an AHL team. Not a bust, at least. Quote
