If you want to see what a team looks like that is good but doesn't hit much(about 2.5 hits fewer per game than the Sabres), look at the Hurricanes.

25th in hits/game this year, dead last by a mile last year.

Aren’t they an excellent puck possession team?   You don’t hit when you have the puck.  I don’t think the Canes lack a physical game but I don’t watch them much.  Their coach sure liked to hit.

Better 2nd and 3rd periods have to come from the players.  Coaches can talk and point and yell, the players have to execute.
