For goalies who played a minimum of 15 games last year, Comrie was 2nd in the NHL to the Rangers Shesterkin at goals saved above expected per 60 minutes. Compared to the trash we had on our team last year ranking 51st for Anderson and 57th for Tokarski out of 67 this is a huge upgrade regardless of small sample size. If he has a good 40-game season this year and then he's a consensus 1B-caliber goalie next offseason, this is an incredibly good signing. Well I've got news for you, no matter who they signed this year they probably weren't getting there so I guess you'll need to see how he performs as a regular first before you dismiss him out of hand. Sabres basically got him right in the prime when they could have expected his stats to fall off a cliff and to nobody's surprise they did. I'd rather make a play for a backup who hasn't had his shot yet opposed to someone whose floated around the league for the past 12 years who is hot then cold then hot then cold. Every season there's a handful of goalies who seemingly come out of nowhere and catch fire in a bottle.
