And Ottawa is a better situation?

There are some rumblings that Sabres Goaltending Coach Mike Bales and Matt Murray did not get along in Pittsburgh , this maybe confirmation of this

Was he there when they traded him?

Speaking of Friedman’s podcast, he had an alarmingly bad realization about former Penguins goalie Matt Murray.

He dabbled in some discussion about the Senators using the No. 7 overall draft pick as grease to get a team to take Murray off their hands. In other words, the theory being that the Senators would give up a top-10 draft pick, but only if that team took his hefty $6.25 million contract, too.

Friedman didn’t endorse that idea, nor did he say that such a move is pending. But the fact that this kind of conversation is even possible is a sign of how dramatically Murray has fallen since the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals.

He went from a 22-year-old phenom with two rings on his fingers to being talked about as a forced toss-in on a trade for a top-10 pick.

It seems unbelievable. Until you look at Murray’s numbers. In two years with the Senators, he is 15-25-3, with a .899 save percentage and a 3.23 goals against average.

Before you wasted your time getting "deep into conversations", wouldn't you say to Ottawa's GM and Murray's agent, "We'd like to have him here. Is the feeling mutual? Is he willing to waive his no-trade in order to be here and start for us?"
