Wasn’t Anderson nicked up and missed practice?

Yep.  Strictly done to make sure somebody healthy was available should Tokarski get injured/sick.

Wonder if that counts as one of his 3 suspension serving games or if he still has to sit 3 more should anyone be desperate enough to sign him next year.

Played for Iowa in ECHL this season.

Thanks for that.  Missed warm-ups, so had no idea who was on the bench yesterday.  Just knew it wasn't Dell.

He’s Back

Anybody else hoping that coddling Anderson at present ends up making him amenable to being the backup goalie next year if UPL isn't ready for full time NHL backup duty out of the gate; and for when he is ready for it and the guy Adams brings in is healthy, that he'll have some mysterious back tweak that leaves him with the team but not on the bench having that tweak stiffen up?

Would really not mind having Anderson back as long as he isn't relied on for any more than a max of 25 games and ideally 15-20.

No, they need to use their cap space and draft picks to trade for a proven younger NHL goalie who’s been in the league a couple of years and ready to be a starter, like Georgiev from Rangers.

Capspace won’t be a factor

Regardless of who the starter is, they still need quality backup.  Not advocating for Anderson to start and absolutely don't want UPL penciled in.

Not sold on Georgiev, but absolutely still want an outside guy brought in.

How does bringing Andy back block that?

Edit: And if Andy is going to be, ahem, injured should UPL be ready to backup in the NHL, that actually HELPS w/ capspace as guys on IR count against the cap.

I’m not saying it’s an issue, it’s an asset where they can afford a larger salary or help another team with their cap by taking on another player along with a goalie.

And a 40 year old injury prone Anderson is not a reliable option for backup. You get a goalie to pair with UPL, and let them split games until one becomes the clear starter.

Absolutely. This team can't be just about building for the future next year. It has to be about winning now or it risks letting the losing culture slip back in.

We rebuilt the base this year now these guys have to go in each night thinking one thing only - win the game. Any loss should be viewed as failure and a need for improvement. It's time, and we need a reliable goalie to try to do that.

Right about now I would say UPL is at least as unreliable as Anderson.  Maybe more so.

UPL did well with the Sabres and a better defense before his injury. But they need a reliable NHL goalie under 30 just in case he’s not ready to be a full time starter.
