The color change and rebrand was done under the Knox ownership and stewardship, the fact that the next owners company used those colors was coincidence. I agree that the logical connection between the new colors and Adelphia is dubious, but the idea is based on the fact that Rigas had invested 15 million dollars in the Sabres in 1994. And his sports network secured the rights to games around the same time.
