you only need to relive one of the best hockey exhibition tournaments ever witnessed: the 1987 Canada Cup. Unlike any All-Star Game, the late summer tournament was legendary for the unlimited superstars at their peak, excelling in fast-paced, great skating games, filled with hard-hitting and amazing offensive plays, not to mention some great goaltending. The best-of-three Championship between USSR and Canada was unbelievable - back and forth with all three games ending in 6-5, all three going to overtime. A Canadian roster with Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Hawerchuk, Anderson, Bourque, Coffey, Gilmour, Goulet, Gartner, Propp, Fuhr, Tocchet, Patrick - all in their primes, coached by Keenan....A Soviet roster that was filled with future NHLers, including the famous KLM line of Larionov, Krutov, Makarov with Fetisov and Kasatonov on defense and supported by Khymlev, Nemchinov, Semak. And the baritone voice of Dan Kelly calling the action....and now on DVD!

If you really want to block out the soap opera of the present day quagmire that is the NHL, get yourself a late Christmas present. A 4-DVD set is available (no extras but also no commercials) that is worth every penny to any die-hard hockey fan who loves the speed and purity of the sport.
