Well, you know, there are, I'm told, times in which, given the context, they're useful, but only to an undefined, subjective point, allegedly.

Generally, I write with commas, and then take them out, leaving only the ones I think are necessary.

I went to Hockey School with Wilford years ago. Great guy. Will run the D corps

He's got a bunch of coaching experience in the AHL and a little NHL

Looks like 7 years of AHL and 3 of NHL

I think he is a hockey lifer type guy.

Sorry at first I thought you meant Christie who does have a crapton of ECHL and AHL experience. I updated the other post. Both guys with lots of coaching under their belt... and Matt Ellis

The Matt Ellis of all assistant coach hirings.

I suppose someone else has already made this bad joke.

Assuming someone else already made a bad joke is the Matt Ellis of making Matt Ellis jokes.

I'm happy Bales is staying. I figured Girardi was going to remain as the bench D coach, but maybe he wants to be out of the spotlight another year or so and focus on development. Nothing alarming in any of the hires.

Do these guys know what they are getting into? For that matter, did Granato know exactly what he was getting into when he took the job?

With this roster, this goalie tandem, there are going to be nights there will be virtually no chance of winning. I can see games the Sabres go into, that have the potential to get out of hand really really quick, and the job of the coach is just going to try to keep things together on the most basic level.

I suspect they aren't done in goal but we shall see

Granato definitely knew what he was getting into. He's getting the band back together. Guys who can teach and coach and develop the new core

I never much cared about assistants that much.  But after Steve Smith I pay more attention to them now.  I like this group; they all look like solid picks.  I also like Adam Mair and Dan GIrardi taking the development duties.  Again, solid choices that, as players, advanced/sustained their own careers through development (as opposed to earth shattering talent).  If nothing else, this development and coaching staff should instill a good work ethic in the team, something that's been inconsistent at best over the last decade.

Granato is exactly the perfect coach for this team.  Any doubts I had about his selection vaporized when we went into full rebuild mold.
