So you are trading Jones for Risto? Okay fine but what other level of trading do we match up with them?

They've arguably got at least 3 goalies that are better than ours, they've got tons of draft capital including 3 firsts this year, they do have some talent and are a better team than us, and they need high end forwards.  They also need to change things up.

I could really see them doing Reinhart, Risto for Jones, Merzlikins

That would be an atrocious trade for us. Jones is overrated and wouldn’t sign with us anyway. Reinhart probably wouldn’t want to sign an extension with Columbus

You think Marner is a 7.9 mil player, or less?

Pacing for 96 points per over the last two years (93, 100)? So like in line with what Ryan Johansen and Matt Duchene make?

I wouldn't give him more than 8m is what I'm saying yes.

Because Duchene RyJo are over paid does not make it okay to overpay Marner.

You want to give a top 5 scorer in the NHL 8 mil. Ok.

Good luck tonight

We have one of the best goal scorers in the league making 7.14m abd Scheif at 6.125m and Ehlers (arguably as good as Marner) at 6m. Helle at 6.17m.

You don't build a contender by overpaying people...just look at TO and the Coilers.

A) the jets are not close to a contender

b) scheifele is one of the best contracts in the league, it's not representative of what you can expect in signings

Also Ehlers isn't arguably as good as Marner come on

If  you believe in anaytics, he is better actually.

I "believe" in them, yes. No, he's not close to Marner.

Also Marner had 34% more points than Connor this year and Connor is up over 7

Sometime tomorrow I will post some Ehlers vs. Marner analytics.

Too busy watching my team suck.

Don't bother. I am familiar. I don't care.

If you believe in them, you'd know they favor Ehlers...

I forgot about Lowry's contract...5 x 3.25 starts next season. Another good contract.

What team doesn't have at least 3 goalies better than ours? We have no NHL level goalies on the roster.

Reinhart for Tkachuk anyone?

I'd rather keep Reinhart but if he's determined to leave then sure.

Hard not to see this as the most obvious trade market pairing

Yea it makes a lot of sense.

What would you think we'd extend Tkachuk for?

I wouldn't trade for him without 1

If it’s Reinhart for Tkachuk then both teams are kind of in the same boat.  I don’t think Tkachuk is eligible for an extension yet anyway.

He's 1 year left with his contract as the season year changes over. So he should be able to discuss extensions.

Paying Tkachuk 9 million a year isn't a smart decision when you don't have a franchise center or a first liner.

Especially when they already have a LW getting paid 9 million. Having two taking up 18 million, is not the best use of cap space, particularly on this team.

I agree, and it is likely to go that way with Tkachuk, but it doesn’t need to.  He could sign a long term contract for less.

That said, it does seem that Tkachuk has his course charted for UFA in 2 years.
