How much influence does Jack’s NMC have?

I suppose he could say, hey, if you trade me to that team, I’m demanding a trade once my NMC kicks in, and the team gets wind of it and balks. But I doubt he’d do that

Not really he's under contract. This bug in this is you have to find players without NMC and on teams with cap room to trade with. So many players have NMC that it's not as easy to make deals as some seem to think.

The NMC's influence is in what we can get back for Jack if and when we decide to trade him. That's all. Trade him now, the primary factor is health. Trade him next season after he proves his health, that's a good return. Trade him somewhere he doesn't want to be, also rebuilding, and they've got 1 year to figure it out. Trade him after the NMC and it'll be the Hall trade because it limits the teams. And if the NMC requires Jack's approval of the team, rather than just a list of teams, and it'll be a garbage trade of contracts like ROR's.

If you are really suspicious, you might figure that Jack is using his impending NMC to force the Sabres to sell low so as not to damage the team his is going to.

How Machiavellian do you think he is?  I don't see it that way -- particularly if we get a coach he is excited about and the line-up after UFA is one he likes.

I just think he is using the disc thing so he doesn’t get bad PR. Not saying that his injury isn’t legit, but let’s face it, had we had been a different team this most likely doesn’t force him to want to leave.

Really wish we knew what the rags offered for Jack last season.

Apparently their first offer was two offseasons ago

I get that the Pegulas are f***ups but what are you referring to? Letting Jack get injured? Not letting Jack get his experimental surgery?

It's not "experimental surgery"

In the US, it is.  I am going to look at the liability part of the SPC later because I suspect the Sabres will be very reluctant to OK it if they are on the hook for the procedure.  And I imagine they are (the trade off for the player giving up control is that the owners would be liable).

Now, they have OK-ed this kind of risk before (Tim Connolly), but that was another ownership group.

Trades with a NMC are a real mess because basically the player has the right to say no to any trade.  Jack wouldn’t actually waive it until he agrees to the specific trade.  He could give Adams a list of acceptable teams, he could give Adams just one team, he could give Adams one team but also tell him that he won’t accept it if players x, y, or z from the team he is going to are part of the deal.

Yeah, the Dominic Hasek treatment. If we are moving him it has to be now so he doesn't get that kind of control.  I don't need to irrationally hate another former Sabre.
