Wow, even the national NHL tweet showed the hometown hero!

Gotta be a big thrill for a guy who went 5 years without a win!

Good for him.  That being said, I hope they are not fooled into thinking he can be the #2 for next year.  Hutton has also had some nice small run of games over his time with the Sabres, and then fell apart.

I don't see what you mean.

Hmmmm...I guess they go on shot totals and not quality of shots.

I'm not impressed by this at all. Good for him and all, but he made the saves he should of made--mostly. He did not steal any games for us.

totally agree...it seems to me that Pittsburg were just shooting for the sake of shooting and while they had quantity of shots they sure did not have quality of shots. Having said that it sure is a feel good story for him and for the team.

You can't even be happy for a guy on your own team?

Yikes.

Really happy for him.  He's been a trooper and has had unexpected success.  Hope he can keep it going, but 100% agree that if he's any higher than 3 on the depth chart entering camp the off-season will have been a fail.

Is Michaela Pastorius a UFA?  Maybe we could sign her cheap to backup Ullmark.

I knew the vision reference wrt Hutts would be missed.  But I tried.

Don't worry, I caught it.

I hope Tokarski isn't the backup next year.  But if the Sabres acquire no one else between now and then, it has to be him.  It can't be Hutton, and UPL doesn't look ready.

That's cool.  Is this our first NHL star of the week this year? Maybe there was one earlier but I don't remember. It's nice to be an actual hockey team again.

Now what's the plan for this week or are we just going to burn him out?

Wear him down to a withered nub.

Could his recent play make him a target for Seattle in expansion?

As stated elsewhere, that would be the optimal result.  But, just can't see Francis not knowng his entire history and how it's been a long time since he had a sniff at the NHL.

Particularly as the amount of rubber he faced as the taxi squad's GT likely is responsible for a reasonable chunk of how well he's played.
