Well invented maybe not, but he was one of the first in USA doing disc replacements from what I read.

Hot women consider me a solid 10. Well not so much a 10 as a 1.0.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful but I don't know what you are talking about. The Sabre doctors in consultation with other doctors were recommending a conservative approach of rehabbing before addressing the surgery option. It was the right approach to take. You basically said otherwise. That was clearly off the mark.

I have not read the 200+ posts here, and this is my first time speaking about this issue, but I just want to say that I think this Eichel situation is absurd. How in heaven's name can the Sabres possibly expect to get full value for a player whose health is in question?? (To be fair, I am not sure Adams is under any delusion about this.) And as the poster here says it, what team would make this trade for Eichel?? (Again, given the lack of movement, I am not sure that any other teams are under any delusion about this either.). No wonder no trade has happened.

The Sabres and Eichel have only one path forward in the immediate future--together. For now, at least, they are stuck with each other. They should sit down in a room and accept that fact, and ask--how can we move forward for now? Answer-- (1) let's come to an agreement on the medical procedure; (2) let's get Jack to full health; (3) let's get him on the ice producing at his near MVP clip, (4) then and only then, if we still want to part ways, we discuss it then. Who knows, maybe there is a shift in attitudes and Jack wants to stick around; otherwise, this is ludicrous.

Am I wrong about this?

No, you are basically correct from the Sabres' viewpoint.

And welcome back to the board.

Yes. I was just thinking that if I was in Bill Guerin’s shoes that I’m not sure that I would trade Rossi for Eichel straight up. Rossi, AFAIK, doesn’t need back surgery. That PR blitz from team Eichel on Friday that made it clear that surgery is necessary really screwed the Sabres over.

Do you think the Sabres were going to fool other teams on Eichels medical situation?  You can't trade a guy then later disclose that surgery is needed.  Any team trading for him needs to have access to his medical records.

Eichel seems intent on screwing the Sabres on his way out of town. In any case his agents ill timed msg to the media has most likely damaged the bounty KA expected to get in return. Its also damaged the reputation of the petulant star in the eyes of GMs throughout the league. His reputation is growing. The Sabres look bad, Eichel/agent look bad and we will never get fair value for the asset we hold. Its a lose/lose situation that further cements the inept reputation of this org. And is perhaps the worst outcome for the inexperienced GM to this point. Can the ‘deal’ be salvaged ?

I don't see how Adam's inexperience factors in here. So far he's playing it the right way.

Not questioning this doctor, he seems very legit, but I do not see him listed in the Medical Staff section of the Sabres Staff Directory, which probably means he is not on staff directly, but as a consultant.

Interesting tidbit that I did not know is that Rivet and Peters are Sabre employees.  Explains a lot.

I think it’s more just me coming to grips with the fact that Jacks value is probably lower than I thought. I thought the surgery demands were posturing.

But seriously, Jack wants the surgery, let him have it.   Its his body and just put the liability waiver in front of him.

Dude.  You keep saying this like it's a simple solution.  It's not going to happen.  Eichel has zero interest in risking $50MM on the surgery.  He wants the Sabres (or whoever they trade him to) to take the risk.

Then its very simple and it won't happen - Its very simple to me.

Okay. Let him have his surgery. Then what? He's still not going to want to play here.

Best case he recovers fully and we trade him for max value. Worst case his career is over and we end up with nothing. I believe there is a 30% chance of that.

Then there's all the scenarois in between. Rehab takes until after NMC kicks in. Teams still doubt Jack is 100% even after surgery. Still make low-ball offers. Jack is even more bitter and tries to hurt the Sabres any way he can.

Dr. Cappuccino was the guy who saved Kevin Everett from being paralyzed for life. He's no Dr. Nick.

I know that and he should be rightfully praised for it.

My point is that he is not on the Sabres Medical Staff, but probably only a consultant.  I am not questioning his ability as a specialist in spinal surgery and treatments.

I believe @nfreeman was keying on the 'easily done' part of the simple definition and not the 'easily understood' part.

What you are saying is simple to understand, but not simple to do.

Let him have the surgery but he has to get rid of his NMC

I think too much is being made of the no movement clause. If he's healthy and elite, we'll get value no matter what.  He doesn't have all leverage, Jack, either add more teams or suit up.

He has a full NMC after this coming season.  That gives him great leverage in a year.  He can pull a Hall if he wants at that time.  He has something we want and we have something he wants.  Make a deal

No, he doesn’t. Hall had leverage because it was either trade him to where he wanted to go or he would go free in a couple months. Jack will go free in four years. If Jack wants to leave Buffalo, he literally has no leverage other than the Sabres willingness to pay his salary.

Simple to say and I have said it but we both know it doesn’t work that way in reality.  See ROR and PLD for examples. KA wants him gone and he wants to go. Why not leverage the situation to give yourself maximum flexibility as to when and where?
