I don't have high hopes for him, but I see this as good news.

Someone else new to look at down the stretch, with the slim chance he can be more VO and less CJ Smith

Yup. Probably a sign he’s intending on plenty of movement

We like VO and R2, why not Weissbach?  114 pts in college 127 games in 4 years.  Pretty solid college career.  It will be interesting to compare the undrafted Routsalainen vs 7th rd pick Weissbach.

Both are playmakers, both are on the small side and about the same age.  R2 has 40 pts in 32 AHL/Liiga games and Weissbach had 41 in 31 college games this season.

I'm shocked he signed without the promise of getting playing time.

You're so close to free agency, after 4 years of waiting, why not go to free agency and try to find a better spot for yourself?

Just as good a chance here as any, he's not cracking a playoff teams roster.

For fringe prospects, opportunity at NHL playing time is more important than a winning organization.

Yeah I’m not sure why an undersized, 7th round pick who benefitted supremely from his college linemates, would think there is a spot for him carved out in the NHL.

This isn’t Cole Makar or Tory Krug.
