Second Line Center 56
This sounds like an ACL?
IKnowPhysics 970
Watching the play, it's almost definitely knee ligaments. I'm really, really hoping it's not season-ending. Jake is a warrior for us.
Eleven 3,894
It should. He's the best stay-at-home defenseman on the team.
pi2000 1,464
looks like a sprained MCL... had the same injury in college. i missed 6 weeks, hopefully his is not as bad.

Hurts like a MFer. Yup. Same here. Opposition realized it was 3 on 1 for a loose ball, someone yelled "man", got caught sideways, the backside foot's cleats locked in the Pac NW March mud... And then the backside leg folded like a camp chair. And basically sat up with my stick out of my hands and my goalie screaming at me to get up and into position. I was walking upstairs backwards for 2 weeks, then 4 weeks until some semblance of normalcy and willingness to plant a foot to turn or pivot, 6 weeks until back to normal. French Collection 534
He is playing as well as he can in my opinion and will be sorely missed. RHD is where their depth is, there is a possibility of only playing Dahlin and 5 righties, Montour, Risto, Miller, Joker and Borgen.

Risto might not coming back for while. Issues with Covid. If we lose McCabe and Risto for 5-6 weeks as alluded to above it would complicate our playoff potential immensely. Pleasantly surprised with Borgen so far. But leaning on Dahlin/Miller/Montour to play those kind of minutes for almost two months will be challenging. Due to the compressed schedule 6 weeks is ~25 games. Ouch.

Actually, it might simplify it ... no chance is simpler than slim chance. 😶

Gotta protect Borgen over Joker in the draft (or go 4x4) to do so. I agree with the pairing setup. They should complement each other nicely. In the short term, the season ends in only about 10 weeks. We're looking at the distinct possibility of McCabe-Ristolainen until the beginning of next season. And possibly today being McCabe's final skate as a Sabre as he's a UFA. If it's an ACL then he'll likely be back with us next year though as other teams will be more reluctant to sign him in the offseason. Still --- Joker, Irwin, Montour, Borgen, Dahlin, Miller... it's on you!
Gatorman0519 1,149
Borgen is hurt too. It looks like McCabe is done. If he needs surgery he won’t be here at the start of next year either (if we start on time). Risto took a serious beating from Covid. Looks like we are toast.
bob_sauve28 1,098
Ya, this looks bad: "I'll be honest with you. Not very optimistic about the diagnosis that will come out of this," Krueger said. "But let's let the medical team take a look at it and we'll give you a full report. The lower body injury is serious."
Billznut 221
Krueger should be more concerned that he doesn’t know how to coach in the NHL. I know that’s what concerns me most at the moment.
Brawndo 5,139
McCabe was flown back to Buffalo for a MRI. Given Krueger’s Level of concern about the injury, I suspect the trainers did a drawer test, which if positive is sensitive for an ACL Tear. That probably ends McCabe’s Tenure in Buffalo
That Aud Smell 1,286
This cannot be. I was assured by posters here who played competitive hockey that McCabe had a manageable knee sprain.

Curt 1,780
Poor guy. I kinda hope to see him again in a Sabres uniform, but probably won’t. It may actually be time for both sides to move on. Edited February 22 by Curt
