Ralph Krueger needs to go - like yesterday.

Terry doesn't want to fire Ralph because he likes him and because it means more wasted money in a time where their finances are clearly an issue most likely due to the pandemic and over-expanding their brand/companies.

They clearly went through their portfolio shortly before COVID and looked at what was profitable and what wasn't. They have since culled the least profitable entities or the ones they didn't want to spend time on and are re-focusing on the ones they want. This will help them in the long run but until things are culled and the economy goes back to full tilt, they are short liquid assets (we talked about this earlier) so the idea of having 10million in coaches and a GM who aren't even working for you seems unpalatable.

If that's true, it's lame that a coach's salary is holding back a billion dollar team because of liquidity.

Yep, some might say the Pegula's are trying to 'Cut their losses' by not adding an additional new Coach salary this season while still paying RK.  Ironically, by doing so they are likely going to experience more game LOSSES by doing nothing vs. removing RK now.  Problem is the fans care about game losses, not Terry's bank account.

Actually I think they aren't worried about fans or losses because fan revenue now isn't risked. Now you can be upset but at the end of the day you're selling a product that no one can purchase.

HNIC between periods called the Sabres a "Tire Fire".............nice job Ralph, Kevin and Terry.

Does everyone realize that the Pegula's net worth has gone up $400 million since last April according to Forbes?

Funny how Ralphs post sounds like he’s removed or separate  from the challenge he’s faced with but he is a part of the challenge that he’s faced with. Your coaching is part of the problem that you face Ralph. Face it. You are not above this problem. You are a part of it.

Don't confuse Pegula's personal net worth with the financial health of one of the entities he owns.

Those are 2 different things and they want the Sabres to be self-sustaining.

Just the other day, Elliott Friedman suggested very clearly that Pegula likely will not eat the cost of Krueger's K while paying for another, new coach's K at the same time.

As a policy, he is done doing that IMO and there is good evidence to support that assertion.

Okay so you're saying they have such severe money problems the coach's salary should hold back the team. Got it.

As of 2020, the Sabres were valued at $385 million.

They were the 4th least valuable team in the NHL.

The top 5 franchises are all valued at or above $1 billion: Rangers, Leafs, Canadiens, Blackhawks, Bruins.

Market size matters.

You want the Sabres to be worth top 5, hell, top 10 in NHL, building a winning culture won't do it alone. You need physical fans in the area, that means building out the greater WNY region with population, which equates to well paying jobs.
