It’s a bad move if he isn’t signed. This. The other thing that might make sense is there is a more expensive player coming in and this is essentially a space creator. The Sabres still have more than $32 million in cap space with another 10 players to sign.

GASabresIUFAN
Lol. Because Buffalo. KA better have a deal in place for Kahun or he should be fired. This kid has performed at a solid clip offensively in his two years in the NHL and was very solid in his limited time here. He is a RW but can play anywhere. Just dumb not to re-sign him.
Thorny
^I've had him helping Cozens along on his line for a while.

Thorny
You'd think if they did have a deal close they'd leak the rumour considering Jack Quinn's introductory social media posts (which I hope he isn't reading) are being flooded with big kahuna energy
thewookie1
According to our local AP guy, Kahun and the Sabres will look to hammer out a deal tomorrow but it definitely sounds like Kahun wants much more than the Sabres are willing to give him and they didn’t want to deal with arbitration. Trettioåtta
Kahun put up 45 points and has decent defensive metrics. Surely he is worth $2.5 - 3 million for a few years
Thorny
Hamilton seems to think the Sabres want him for a ridiculously low amount haha
Gabrielor
It's the Scott Wilson scenario.Trying to pay less than arbitration would give.Risky.
LGR4GM
Isn't his qualifying offer like 3.75mil?

Thorny
So basically it comes down to - was it worth it to forgo the QO and lose exclusive negotiating rights in an effort to avoid arbitration?

thewookie1
Well if he wants over 4mil I don’t mind the lack of a QO
Thorny
Do we know if it's true you can walk away from arb?
