Would you be happy if Hall was acquired by the Sabres?

If we keep Larsson, that's 3 lines that would really really be able to sustain tough minutes, and I'd like to think that 3rd line could function in an offensively sheltered role.

If we somehow acquired Copp from Winnipeg through a trade down (throw in Casey?), we'd essentially be adding a real, reliable centreman, a highly skilled top line W for the cost of Zero assets (if Copp was on the table to simply move from 10 to 8. Maybe the Jets love someone, I dunno).

We also still add a young player like Jarvis to the system. Seems pretty much ideal. But, Hall has to want to come.

Regardless, could be a way to fill 2C (stop gap version) in the event our best potential add is a winger.

I wouldn't be happy as he isn't a center nor does he bring any skill set we don't already have.

You need top 6 players certainly but they need to differ in specialty at very least. Hall and Skinner are far too similar in terms of streaky goal scorers only Hall is a better playmaker at least.

Let's just pretend,

Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart

Olofsson-Cozens-Hall

I see high scoring potential but simultaneously a youngster being thrown to the wolves again, and very little in terms of grit besides the youngster mentioned prior. Defensively again we'd be entirely depending on Eichel and a rookie with Reinhart and Olofsson as their primary winger defensively.

We need a Cirelli(Selke) or a Tkachuk(Gritty Power Forward) type far more than another soft skilled guy no matter how great he could be.

Even if it worked in the regular season we'd be massacred in the playoffs every time as our guys would just be out muscled.

He doesn't really fill a need for them unless the move is done to allow them to flip Reinhart to fill a need.

As for worrying about getting massacred in the playoffs because they would get out muscled, baby steps. Lets just get into the playoffs first, then worry about what they need to go further........

But none of this really matters because hall said he isn't going to be looking for money this offseason, he wants to go to a winner and that isn't going to be here.

If Buffalo went into free agency and pays enough for Taylor Hall to come to Buffalo and he signs, would you be happy?

Devil in the details, but I imagine no.

Too expensive, and won't fit our timeline.

The timeline is NOW, and always is and should be now. This idea of teams wasting seasons so that a bunch of youngsters can grow together and gel and be some sort of dynasty team just doesn't happen anymore in the FA era. The successful teams have young talent but also older veterans to help them along and try to win while the youth still develops.

Covered this earlier in the thread. Financial timeline, not competitive.
