Well first off it's a big get for Sahlens hot dogs. They will be named and associated with a major league ball park for 25 dates plus playoffs, all for the price of a minor league ball park.

There will be two hotels filled with players and staff. There will be restaurants catering clubhouses. The ballpark will be upgraded on the Jays dime, I'm really having trouble seeing the downside.

Maybe I am underestimating the money generated locally.  But I still think that none of the teams will stay in their bubbles completely and that a COVID-19 spike is a certitude.

There is a lot of doom and gloom in that article.  On par with much of today’s internet journalism.  The rapid development of a vaccine would eliminate all of these long term concerns - Of course that’s easier said than done.

What I tell my kids that are now in theIr “raising families years” is that it may take sacrifice like they have not seen before, dropping to one income, and supplementing one income with part time work.   Whatever happens investing in the children is investing in our future.  I am adjusting my retirement plan accordingly and looking at estate planning in a new ways.

We are lucky so all we have to give up sleep.  My wife and I have arranged our shifts pre-covid at the Hospitals we work at so that someone is always home.  That being said... oof.

Restarting sports now is probably the dumbest thing I've heard of in awhile. Case are trending up in lots of places and we're going to start flying dozens of people around, presumably not respecting quarantine requirements. It's a damn game.

I don't often do this, but told ya so.

You don't live here.  You don't have to worry about the consequences.  And do you still feel this way after today's news?  Wow, two hotels!  There may be two hospitals filled, too.

I would venture that several members of this board currently live out of 716.  That shouldn’t preclude commentary on the benefits of MLB games in Buffalo.  Without question, the value appears to be diminishing.  Indeed, the issue may be moot within a week.  Nevertheless, current state of residence shouldn’t be a disqualifier to engaging in discussion concerning the merits. And I say that as a Boston resident who quivers at the thought of a mass influx of college students within the month.

As a Boston resident you are disqualified from all discussions.  I moved away from that cesspool but I'm still disqualified from at least half of all discussion.

Duly noted.  Had a bad night last night and I have been known to howl at the moon on occasion.

We've all been there.  Teachers get the shaft, never gonna get an argument saying otherwise from me. ?

Ha!  Parents still live in WNY, and I detest Pats and Bruins.  Does that re-qualify me?

I live within 45 minutes of 2 MLB team stadiums. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t want them functioning. Yet, I’ve had some arguments (with relatives) on the merits of having a MLB team play in downtown Buffalo. I get the Buffalo mentality (lived there most of my life), but the Jays playing in Buffalo just isn’t worth it. These disagreements mostly have to do with politics. Nowadays, if someone says “up”, you must counter with “down”.

If your comment isn’t a home run, I don’t know what is.

I didn’t see much social distancing going on here.

A fair point, but someone who does not live here is less likely to consider negative consequences.
