I don’t have hard numbers other than a porous memory. The group was greatly diversified 12 years ago.

I’ve been people watching a long time and there are fans that will engage through thick and thin and then there are others who don’t care to discuss things if there aren’t enough positives to balance the negatives. Ten years of losing hockey  will cause people to reprioritize their hobbies.

Looks like I have a project. I bet the number of posts is up because there was no mobile posting back then.

I have a lot of practice with family dysfunction!

As I said, this group would be the envy of most families.  I think that lack of birth order slotting and never-resolved childhood conflicts is a distinct advantage for Sabre Spacers.

I am an occasional poster, but a frequent reader. I would say my reason for not posting often is due to my lack of hockey knowledge. Pretty much all of my knowledge is from watching sabres games and reading here. I don't have the extensive knowledge of players in the league like some here. Sometimes I feel I do not have something significant to contribute, and don't want to just blow hot air. I am a young fan, and I think as my hockey knowledge grows, my post quantity is likely to increase with it.

Knowledgeable posters 1A and funny posters 1B. How is your sense of humor?

Have you read any of my in-depth hockey analytics posts?  No?  That's because they don't exist.  I don't bring any substantial hockey input to the table besides a pedestrian opinion on the state of the team.  I milled around here in the shadows for a couple years and said ***** it I'll jump in.  There's a wealth of knowledge here not only about hockey but life.  Lots of intelligent people that are considerate of others with a healthy sense of humor.  I like that atmosphere and am grateful I've been, for the most part, tolerated.  Jump in, the water's fine.

As a longtime follower (wouldn't say lurker) and only very occasional poster, I will present my personal perspective.

This board is one of the first sites I go to every day, not only for Sabres news (of which there has been so little lately), but also for urbane and erudite threads, responded to in a civil and respectful manner by a broad representation of genuinely nice folks.  While I certainly do not agree with every opinion, I respect the ability of the regular posters on this board to carry on (mostly) civil debates on a wide variety of subjects.  Even more importantly, there is an obvious and pervasive mutual affection shown toward each other, which would be the envy of most families!

I would love to someday be able to meet up for one of the SabreSpace events at a game, but with a paucity of posts I do not have the sense of familiarity with most of you that seems requisite for participating.  Early on in my SS experience, I did meet Shrader for a Bruins game in Boston, but our main connection in that brief time was to have each others backs if trouble arose (which fortunately it didn't).

I do not post regularly for a few reasons.

1. I am an old guy and not facile on the keyboard, so it takes me a lot longer than most to type my responses.  Definitely a drawback on Game Day threads.

2. Until the current stay-at-home situation, I did not have much time to spend on the computer.  It was much easier to read what had been posted than to actually respond.

3. I have played hockey since childhood, and continue to do so twice a week. However, I do not understand analytics, and my appreciation for the game is based on experience and eyeballs.  Not as easy with these tools to lay out a cogent explanation as it is using Corsi numbers, etc.

4. I am considered by most as a man of few words.  I strongly adhere to the axiom, "Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd have preferred to talk."  I would say that some of the wisdom I have acquired has come from regular visits to this board.

Thank you all, and I hope to continue to follow (and occasionally post) for many years to come.

So well written.  You capture a joy that is here.  I like it when you do show up ... being a fellow man of few words, myself ... ?

Well after many years of checking this website out I decided to get registered (actually re-registered).  Thanks freejame for the motivation and SDS for fixing my technical issue.

I check this site out frequently.  Although I live in Texas, I grew up in Williamsville and was 12 yrs old when we got the team in 1970.  It really was a magical time to be a Sabres fan.  Exciting hockey, great players and hopes of more to come each year combined with my youthful exuberance left me with a lifelong passion for this team.  I watch every game I can on NHL Center Ice.  When I see the old highlights it brings back great memories.

There are many folks here that have quite a bit of hockey knowledge and I appreciate the insight.

I wish things were better for the Sabres, it has been a tough period for sure.  I am the eternal optimist and maybe the team is not that far off - my last business trip I got to the hotel and I caught the end of the Colorado game in Feb and thought the team was really starting to get it.

Anyway I'll try to jump in every now and then.

By the way Dallas has not been the best place for a Buffalo fan.  Two super bowls + No Goal.  I certainly heard it all from my friends and still do.  I did see Brett Hull at the driving range a few years after that game.  I would like to tell you I shouted "No Goal"..  but I can only say I thought about it.

Take care everyone
