The point of it is stimulus. Accept it cash it. Then give it to someone who will put it back into circulation. That is the point of stimulus.

We are taking ours and spending most of it on things for others.

Things are finally starting to break for me financially and I might clear 3k in bonuses and commission for the month and make 5k in a month for the first time ever. There’s a sig rifle I’ve had my eye on for a very, very long time that’s really calling my name but I’m not spending any of my stimulus until I see how the end of this month goes. 

Combined with a management position at work I just applied for, I’m really looking forward to 2021 and much more financial comfort.

Thanks, much appreciated! I’m pretty optimistic. I’ve got the best background of those that applied, but right now there’s a question of whether we will be having the new training class that the managers would be in charge of. Either way, I’m confident it’s in the cards sooner or later.

The IRS website now says one explanation for the "Payment Status Not Available" error is that your data might not have been uploaded to the Get My Payment tool yet. They say they're working on moving more data into the tool (TWSS).

Pretty sure you're confusing a couple of programs from the CARES Act.

The income tax relief is $1,200 per person (couples filing jointly get $2,400) with an additional $500 per qualified dependent child.  Those checks have been going out since early this week and are getting automatically sent to all qualifying tax payers.  (There is a cutoff for taxpayers earning above a threshold which is why some people are saying they don't qualify for it.)

The $360B loan/grant package for small businesses which is administered by the SBA has 4 separate programs that business owners need to apply for.  Expect those are the programs you're referring to.  And those are currently out of funds and are what they've requested an additional $250B for.

2 of those programs PPP and EIDL are the ones most small business owners qualify for.  EIDL was supposed to be a grant (technically a loan, but it is immediately forgivable so it effectively is a grant) of up to $10,000 per small business but due to demand has been adjusted to be a $1,000 grant per employee (and the owner can count as 1 of them) up to 10 employees.  To apply for this program you apply directly to the SBA on-line. 

The PPP provides for much larger loans (up to $10,000,000) and can become a grant IF the funding goes directly to employee salary (at least 75% of the funds) and the rest goes directly to stuff like rent & utilities.  Any money spent on other items needs to be repaid, but pretty sure no payments are due for 2 years and are only due if you can't prove the money was used for wages and facility expenses.  This program works through your bank and the SBA and you apply directly with the bank.

Don't know much about the other 2 programs within the SBA portion of the CARES Act because they weren't applicable to my business at all.

Presumably these programs will get additional funding in the next week or so.

T-2, you are getting the PPP and EIDL programs mixed up. The advance on the EIDL loan, which was $10,000, is now $1,000 per employee up to $10,000. I think the PPP program is unchanged.

Depending on how they calculate income, I may or may not get it. But either way, I work in agriculture and business in booming. My job is safe and I feel extremely fortunate. I don't need the money and I can't believe our stupid government thinks this is a good use of $2 trillion, when we are already over $10 trillion in the hole. For that kind of money, they could provide health care for millions of Americans. Or maybe just get us some friggin' masks and COVID tests, already. If I do get the money, I will likely be donating my cut to some key political campaigns this fall.

My feelings exactly.  Everything now is political.  Buying votes, scare tactics, etc.  Is there any Truth anymore??  At least 10% of the US does not need stimulus and would deny it if were possible.  Throwing money at a problem rarely fixes it.  The hypocrisy.  Many of the same folks that  say "We won't stand for a socialist society" are the same ones cashing the stimulus checks, social security checks, disability checks, unemployment checks as soon as they get them.  And the farm bailouts.   And the small business bailouts. That is socialism . Pick a side!  Do you want government support or not??  If you want government support, fine.  I'm OK with that.  I think the government should help in times of trouble.  But,  don't  cry about government overreach.  And I ain't no saint, I'll cash my stimulus check.  I will be donating the whole check to a presidential candidate's campaign.    It may not help, but my conscience will be clean.

I couldn't have said this better myself. Frankly, I'm tired of narratives - regardless of sides. Just give every one of us the unadulterated facts!

I hear ya SDS but it's turning me into a person I don't like. 

There needs to be a universal understanding and language.  I thought it was science and facts. but now it's about lies, TV ratings and Facebook posts.  The tail is wagging the dog.  P.T. Barnum was wrong when he said a sucker is born every minute.  Now, a sucker is born every second.  I really want to be a good, caring, generous, and understanding person,  but it's getting increasing easy to just say, "F^ck it, you wanted it, you got it,  enjoy it and don't bitch."  I'll just care about me and my family..  We'll be fine regardless of what happens, but my patience level is shot.  Anything else I have to say belongs in the political thread.

I want to be a good man, and I still am aside from the occasional vent like this one, but it's getting increasingly difficult.
