I’m surprised no one has brought up the whispers that Buffalo, with its extra two rinks and hotel connected are one of long shot sights to host multiple playoff games.

I haven't heard these whispers and I don't see it happening, but I wouldn't mind it.

It might be 50th on a list of 20 but it’s been discussed. I think as a no fan option but not sure.

If they're serious about looking into the no fan option, it would have to be extremely high on the list.

They could have 2 games going on at any given time and still have the 3rd rink available for practice / whatever.

Very little interaction with the locals if it really were only teams, management, TV crews, and sportswriters plus support personnel in the complex.

The biggest thing for me about a no-fan option is making sure they have Gary Thorne available for commentary. Not only is he, in my opinion, the greatest announcer in all of sports, he’s also the most recent commentator to call a no-fan game and it was an absolute gem. As someone who watches a lot of baseball from a lot of teams, I think this was the last time I watched an Orioles game just to watch an Orioles game.

Not trying to be rude, but why do I care about Buffalo potentially hosting playoff games that the Sabres won't be playing in and none of us could even go watch? They'd might as well be playing on Mars.

The lower gravity on Mars would make the games interesting.

Not sure where you live, but I'm in Buffalo and I'd rather see the economic impact (even just the players, refs and TV crews) here than elsewhere.  There's a prestige factor, too.

Indeed it would!

I think the economic impact would be minimal at best.  They'd occupy hotel rooms.  The teams will be psychotic about controlling what the players eat and where they go during that time.  The point of having it at our facility would be that people wouldn't have to leave the facility to go anywhere or do anything.

How many teams could you house and feed in the Harborcenter Marriott? Including support staff and officials? At least 4?  When you think about it, what place is better? You have three NHL rinks, a hotel, food service and hockey training facility under one roof that can be sanitized from stem to stern.

4 would be the absolute limit unless they shared rooms, which they typically do not.  I think 3 is more realistic if you're going to have the referee crews stay there as well.
